If only atheists would accede to the Christian's claim that they are an opposing belief system/religion. Even in dementedly Christian America, the resultant Blessed Church of Unbelief would then outnumber America's largest denumbination, the Southern Baptists, by two to one.

Think of the political power the UnChurch would have and the immediate cultural sea-change it would bring to the monkey-see-monkey-do communal mind of Americans! The average class-conscious, social climbing Seppo, all at once perceiving atheism, rather than religion, as a de-rigueur requirement to put them on-side with Non-God and society, would scurry down the ratlines of religion en masse.

Almost overnight any Daddy bludging deadbeat Unbeliever, with a drug and alcohol damaged brain who claims George Bernard Shaw or Voltaire as his favourite philosopher, would have a walk up start as Presibent of the Unistaces!

Any faithless fuckwit, who couldn't string two coherent thoughts/sentences together to unsave his religion shopping soul, could tell the notoriously rent-a-mind American masses that the Christians are hiding Bible's of Mass Instruction in their churches, and millions of atheistic Daleks would march accross America droning "Exterminate!...Exterminate!...Exterminate!"

the whole idea of a church, is a gathering of people who idol who they believe in. an athiest church would most likely be a session or a group talk, about what they don't believe in

I have a friend who's a devout atheist.
He is one of the kindest and giving people you will ever meet.

Hmmm...sorry you took that personally. I was commenting on a friend of mine that is atheist. Actually he recently attended a seminar by an atheist speaker but can't remember his name.
