Default If Imus Loses his Job, 1st Amendment Shredded

It doesn't matter if he broadcasts on an FCC channel, the first amendment has no condition about free speech concerning this.

The Black community here is dangerously situated for their own accountability with RAP and Hip Hop - God Forbid!

The real issue here is sensivity, how thick is ones skin. Blacks insist on allowing rap music to use nigger, bitch and ho and there has been no outcry, hmmmm, interesting.

Don Imus does not use nigger or bitch, just hos as the trigger word.

This is simply ridiculous, end this now, blacks are so confused about these adjectives it's less than important.

You are talking about the State University of New Jersey's (Rutgers) women's basketball team, might I remind you. That is a hell of a generalization you are making about this. This is not a bunch of gangsta' rappers and or 'skanks' and or 'ho's' just off the street, crack house, or from a tittie bar. These are students who have to work and keep a GPA to retain a scholarship and are to conduct themselves in a certain way or the school can get rid of them. His comments are very offensive and have no place in this, they are students from a major University my friend and played in the NCAA finals in representing their school. This is degrading all the way around. What did they do to bring his commentary on? Actually Rutgers should take civil action against the idiot so he would learn f***ing lesson. And, if the guy loses a job or gets suspended it will come at the hands of the PRIVATE company who employs him, as it should.

What Imus said was very wrong, but is was not much different than what people (in their socially exclusive groups) say about Whites, Blacks, Reds, Yellows, Women, Men, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists etc. All else is null and void if one does not forgive. How can we all unite to take on our common enemy unless we can forgive each other and move on. At least he did publicly apologise and that should be proof that there is hope for us all to get over our stereotypes that this kind of stuff reinforces. Now people who do not feel guilt about their actions I am not addressing here, just those who find fault in their actions. Did the Amish take advantage of the situation when their own children were murdered? No, they forgave and they faced more than this.

Agape to all.

Can somebody provide a link about this? I don't follow basketball collegiate or pros, so I would like to read about this.

Howard Stern has been making the same style of jokes on the air for about 25 years now. If you put on the New York Black stations you'll hear plenty of racists remarks made about asians , jews, whites, fags, and so on. Why is freedom speech only allowed by specific people?

Don has every right under the U.S. Constitution to call those nappy headed ho's whatever he wants. Stop the whining damn it!

I do not know the actual quote Rob, but this is nothing new. I wonder why now, after so long it is being used to be the next Anna Nicole Smith hype (I am dumber just for knowing her full name.)

Imus himself has referred to one African-American journalist as "a cleaning lady," another as a "quota hire," and tennis player Amelie Mauresmo as "a big old lesbo." Imus taunted another reporter as a "beanie-wearing little Jewboy," called a disabled colleague "the cripple," and has said that he picked one of his producers to do "nigger jokes" (60 Minutes, 7/19/98). http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=1751

Just like the cartoons of Allah were brought up way after the fact. Sometimes issues are ignored until they are useful to promote ideals into our subconscious. A certain mindset is needed for the general population to submit willingly to whatever is in store for us all.

He has a right to say what he wants, and his employer has a right to fire him. No one's rights are being infringed.

While I agree for the most part, the difference here is he was not saying it on his own time. If he were to pay for his own show and broadcasting company and he was banned from saying it, it would be "FREE" speech ( IMHO )

As long as someone else's money is involved in paying his way, he answers to them.

Now, if he had called them chocolate debutants ( sp ? ) he could be mayor of New Orleans.
