Actually I have been ignoring the thread. I figured it was some republican hatred about black people and I didn't want to have anything to do with it.

Now I've read this article about magic negros and such. I'm not sure what to make of it. I wouldn't vote democratic for Obama any more than I'd vote republican for Rudy. We need more parties. However both Rudy and Obama represent the "can-do" people in each party. Rudy has worked his way up without handouts. So has Obama. But I would vote for Nader before either of them.

So what makes Obama good? Primarily he's been on the outside. He's lived in other countries so he's not some stupid hick who waves a flag with one hand, beer in the other, and "burps America is #1, nuk thm rag heads". America needs somebody who is real, who understands we aren't an island and we are near the back of the pack in the industrialized world in almost every thing that matters. Obama's race doesn't have anything to do with this. And neither does Naders or Kuccinich's race. They have perspective and intelligence which makes them stand out. Rudy, well, Rudy trys...

I think the point of the article is to propose a black Moses, who will lead the black population as a whole into an "acceptable place in society"

That person has already existed and in it's purist form... Dr King would have to wait for nearly 50 years to hailed, but I would not put Obama in this catagory... he is the result of all of the pain and struggle that came before him.
