Does every American have an oligation to be in the military?....Since when did that happen.......and BTW I tried to enlist in the Navy and was not accepted because of my criminal record. And it is upseting when people come on this message board and say they want to kill muslims, Well we are right here in your backyard if you really want to. But the fact is people do not really hate Muslims they hate the terrorists, and you know and i know that not all Muslims are terrorists, and if we allow the terrorists to get us Americans riled up against fellow Americans to the point of violence then they have won.
Also I am involved here in my local Muslim community trying to get Muslims to reject the kind of violent teaching that the radicals believe, i did a lecture to the local muslim youth group on why suicide bombing is not justified.
And do not tell me about "A soldier died for my freedom" line I supposrt our troops and when my first cousin ( A white blue eyed American)...was in first Japan and then during this latest Iraq war in the Persian Gulf I would send him a package with cookies underwear and socks etc. every single Month.
My grandfather and great uncles fought for this nation during WWII..........

Ken.e, just so you know I served 20 years in the US Army. It is admirable that you sent packages to your cousin who was or is still serving. You have a vaild point about as Americans we need to stand together to beat the radicals.

I also understand that Islam is the worlds fastest growing relegion. It is also one of the most violent ones too. Keep spreading the word that voilence is not the answer before people do decide it is the relegion that should be destroyed.

Ken, people harrasing and hurting othere just because of their race is wrong and dangerous. Just because one Muslim or one Islamist is a terrorist or radical or both doesn't mean that all are. I have a good friend that owns a couple of convience stores (not joking) and he is scared daily that someone is going to hurt him and his family. He was born here as were the rest of his family and refers to himself as as
American-Muslim. To protect himself he just went and bought a shotgun (12 gague pump action Mossberg 500) and pistol (Colt 45) and got his conceale to carry license. The whole neigherhood is looking out for him and I feel sorry for the person that decides to harrass or harm him. He is also liked by the police as he gives them free sodas and coffee.

The story you told is typical of many American muslims, a lot of small business owners, and many are scared both of mainstream America and the radicals that have hijacked islam. Thanks for your story AYFR. I know you are not a hateful person because of your deep Christian faith and sensibilities. Just sometimes this board gets me riled up when people advocate hate. But i agree with many poster that more Muslims need to speak up against terror, and that why i work with muslim youth.
