The simple fact of citizenship earns him the right to run for Senator. The people of his state decide on his qualifications. The simple fact that he chose to serve his country (in any capacity) deserves respect.
Service to your country seems to be a BIG deal to the people of the US as whether you can run the country. Both Clinton's and Bush's non-service has been a bone of contention on both sides of the fence.
Ps, Welcome to AWE..I hope you enjoy.

Well brotha, i never said he didnt have the right to run for any office or for that matter that he wasnt qualified. All i said is that being a P.O.W. does not qualifiy him for the job. I will agree that military service of any kind is most certianly a plus when running the largest and most complex military the world has ever seen, however not needed. Lets remember that for all practical pourposes the Generals run the war, at least in theory. There are stratagiest, anaylists, consultants, computers, and a host of other methods to get information to the Commander and Chief. After all that there is still congress who ultimitly votes on the war and the course which it should take. I do not beleive that President not having gone through basic training will make or break a war. Even with that what if you simply sat in Iowa for four years and picked potatoes while attending chef school, never firing a weapon let alone in anger. does that "Chef" have a better chance at running the country or a war more successfully then man who has never even seen a gun, simply and soley based on the fact that...."He was in the military"? sorry i would have to disagreee. While it is definlty a plus i hardly think it is an end all cure all. All im saying is that he, being McCain, makes to much of it...or at least his camp and fans do. However you are correct when you say that the people decide and if they want a manwith a war record then so be it. He however wouldnt lose or gain my vote simply because he was or was notin the military. Even less of a concern to me is the fact that he was a P.O.W.
Thanks for the welcome and i look forward to "ARGUEING WITH YOU"!!!

Whoever you are, when you get shot down from 10k and beaten everyday for 5 years, then you can question someones courage. Until then, you have absolutely no credibility.
You are lucky that men like McCain made sacrifices, so that you can run your pussy mouth (freedom of speech). If this was any other country, you would be drug into the street (along with your family), and shot in the head. Actually, that is where we are headed, fascism. So maybe this will happen to you.
If you want to disagree with his politics, fine, but don't question the man's courage. It just exposes you for the fake you are.
