I agree. Why would a country that America has given guns to in exchange for drugs want to harm us?

It was guns in exchange for money.

It was a way to circumvent the congress to support the brave Contras.

Man, comparing anything bad to Hitler just never gets old! Because goodness knows, there has never been another genocidal fuckhead in the history of the entire world. Get some new material, people. Modern Germans are pretty cool people, and it's not really fair to keep holding this shit over their heads forever, okay?

Modern Americans are also cool people but that does not stop the constant charges of racism does it?

Touche. I'm of the opinion that the sins of the father not be passed down to the son, no matter the nationality. Similarly, I don't believe the administration of a nation speaks for all its citizens -- and sometimes, it doesn't speak for any but a very small number. I think the world needs to stop blaming America for George Bush as much as it's time we stop blaming the Germans for Hitler. The difference is the whole Hitler thing was finished 60 years ago, and the wounds left by the Bush administration are still very fresh. It's going to take some time and reparations on our part, warranted or not.

I don't believe that modern Germans are Nazi's, anymore than I believe that modern Americans are racist. I believe there are individuals in both nations that are nazi's and racist.

The world blaming America for George Bush? How arrogant can one get? I certainly don't believe Bush is the greatest president in the history of the world but what exactly has he done to the world except decide to protect America without asking for permission from Europe. Any spending bills, any legislation comes from Congress, not from the Office of the President. The present mortgage issue can be laid directly at the feet of Congress and the democrats.

Don't tell me that Bush is hated in the rest of the world because it just ain't true.

Right or wrong, George Bush is the frontman of his administration, and the actions of his cabinet are going to be attributed to his leadership by the laymen of the world. You think the international community really dug the whole "you're with us or against us" speech? You think the French are blaming the whole (racist) "freedom fries" debacle on anybody but GW? While I contend the guy was a patsy from the get-go and not really responsible for the shit storm his administration has conjured, you can't tell me that he isn't a figurehead and therefore a lightning rod for the animosity of a world fed up with American arrogance.

When did I say "forget"? Certainly not, absolutely not. What I said was "stop blaming". In ten years' time, everyone involved in WW2 is likely going to be pushing up daisies. Remember the lessons of the past, but don't keep hate alive., on either side of the equation.
