This past few days I've really started wondering too; if William Jefferson was able to bribe Nigerian officials what makes anyone think Saddam couldn't have done the same, or even someone as clever as Joe Wilson?

Oh I don't know... maybe it's the well documented trail from Nigeria to the Italian rogue socialist version of the CIA, then simultaneously to Spain (who didn't want any part of it) and then finally to Britain. It's a story that every politically savvy European knows well. It's not a question, the evidence is there. I'll tell you something else they know over there that isn't well known over here... Lurking in the shadows at nearly every step of this process was none other than Micheal Ledeen himself (Karl Rove's only foreign policy operativ... I mean advisor) and certain old guard, Reagan era CIA contacts. It was during this same period that the Italian diplomat was kidnapped by the CIA resulting in a recent trial of several CIA agents in absentia.
I'm sorry, but Wilson is an idiot who didn't realize who was in the game. He IS superfluous. Especially in the face of what is common knowledge everywhere on the planet but here, that a document was manufactured to support a guess (at best), or an outright false justification to go to war. Gee that's only happened... let's see.... EVERY SINGLE TIME we've gone to war.
Nice try MA, but it really doesn't matter how bad Joe screwed up, it doesn't excuse, dismiss, negate or otherwise change the crime that was committed by operatives of OUR government in even giving that document any credence at all. Much less helping make sure that it found it's way into the hands of the British.
The entire story is out there... hell, you can even find several threads here that go into painstaking detail about "Nigergate" and Micheal Ledeen. Complete with links and quotes and sources. Sigh, back in the day when I actually had time to do research.
But to imply that even though Wilson was right, but lied at the time, has no bearing on the facts surrounding the well documented path that document traveled to get to the hands of Colin Powel's speech writer os absurd.
BTW, I won't have any time to answer questions, so I urge you all to do some looking around, non partisan sites of course.
