Minimum wages aren't mentioned in the Bible or anyother heathen religious books.
Damn Liberal devils up to their dirty tricks to take away my freedom.

Do we compare ourselves to those in Asia, South America or Africa? Don't we consider almost every country in Africa as third world? Same for South America and the majority of Asia.
So for 1st world countries we're behind. In comparisson to third world countries we're number one. Whoopie!
C'mon guys.

The minimum wage is just one bit of information. What is the average income of each of those countries? I provided the unemployment rates and frankly I was surprised at how low it was in England for example but look at Germany, 12%. If we are behind in minimum wage but higher in average wage what does that mean?

More than one of my econmic proffessors has said that they minimum wage should be closer to 10-12 $'s per hour and that it would have a minimal effect on the economy.........However that would be if we did not have illegal workers in such large numbers

I think if that was the case here Ken some small business owners would be forced out of business. Just because you have to pay someone a higher min-wage doesn't mean they are worth it.

Compared to who!?!? If your comparing us to Africa, we'll kick their ass in ANY positive category.
You can't take Apple, GM, Pepsi, etc. and compare them to mom and pop's around the country. It's literally apples and oranges.
Average income is a good sample to take. But culture is different to. I had a friend from England come over to stay with his family. We live in a good neighborhood the square footage on our house is about 2000. They were in awe on the size of our house, the size of our backyard and that we had a pool. Culture is the key.
They live on less in Europe and have universal health care, higher taxes and expensive gas. We are the reverse. In comparing wages many factors come into play. But if you're just going off Gix's chart We don't look so hot.
