Jefferson warred with Christians and Muslims. The fact is the pirate wars had nothing to do with Islam and was not why Jefferson owned a Quran. Someone put their own story behind Jeffersons books. Here is a copy of Jeffersons beliefs on religious freedom and a bill he wrote.

Dizzy did you know who all the pirates were and their religious possible connections if any? Read history!

Great Great post Dizzy.
It is amazing how history repeats itself and this is another example on how islam is not so peacfull and that it's doctrine is set up for war being Politicle or military.
this is a great paragraph from the article and i quote
During the meeting Jefferson and Adams asked the Dey's ambassador why Muslims held so much hostility towards America, a nation with which they had no previous contacts.
In a later meeting with the American Congress, the two future presidents reported that Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja had answered that Islam "was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Quran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman (Muslim) who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise."
end quote.........
how true these very words ring today............... convert or die
and the last paragraph of the article is a great synopsis on jefferson mindset and also show that these folks wont stand down to the word but only to the sword...... You have to beet the living shit out of them and grab victory from there dying hands...
and i quote
Jefferson had been right. The "medium of war" was the only way to put and end to the Muslim problem. Mr. Ellison was right about Jefferson. He was a "visionary" wise enough to read and learn about the enemy from their own Muslim book of jihad.
end quote
Jefferson................................ where are patriots like this when we truelly need them

Gix,
You're not poopooing someone's sources, now, are you, Gixer? They are DIRECTLY quoting Thomas Jefferson. Unless you believe they are purposely misquoting him, I'd imagine Free Republic or World Net Daily News or whoever would quote the exact same thing....if they wanted to directly quote TJ from this document. Ya think?

I know this is a small point but I'm sure that the Qu'ran is not called "The book of Jihad" by anyone

Yeah, I know....but, TJ wrote it. And if you read it, it sounds like TJ was very religiously tolerant individual and there were no "except fors" or "yeah, buts" regarding Islam that I could tell.

Wishful thinking there, Gixer? Truth is, Gix, when I see most of the stuff you post, I just shrug my shoulders and shake my head. But, ever now and again, I just feel this need to issue you a good ole fashion bitch slapping. No hard feelings....

i am not saying he was not religiously tolerent but he wasn't afraid to call a spade a spade...
But what i was eluding to was that the site is trying to make argument for seperation of church and state for the US constitution. Which is not the case... And it just irked me it was some Ontario based special intrest group that is being used to make a political point for america.....
