President Bush could have gone down as one of the great leaders of our times. Operative word is could. The man that I saw standing on the rubbel of the WTC is not the same man I see today and that saddens me. While some were aghast at his "cowboy" mentality, I applauded it. While some went after him for his "axis of evil" comments, I was happy. For the first time in a very long time, enemies of this country were identified and put on notice. Without beating a dead horse, the fact was Rumsfeld and company did not prepare for an insurgency - most of which has come from Iran, they didn't protect the borders (but that shouldn't have been a surprise being we don't protect America's borders) they didn't do a lot of things. The "Shock & Awe" we were promised at the outset of the war never materialized because we were so damn worried about civilan casualties. A noble concern, however this is a war. And wars are meant to kill people and to break shit up. That's what war does. We didn't do nearly enough of that.Want more errors? How about the fact that until recently, American soldiers could not fire upon insurgents unless fired upon first and then had to get permission to fire. The fact that because that Abu whatever his name is was holed up in a mosque, we would not take him out.
