Hey bukowski, It sounds to me like you would be much happier staying where you are. After all, those of us who align ourselves with this so-called Neo-Fascist/Christian Right aren’t going anywhere, so it’s not like you’ll be coming back to a country that’s been “cleansed”.

Get over it Republicans, THERE ARE POOR PEOPLE WHO NEED HEALTHCARE. You don't want to cure them in time, fine; you'll pay much more later. There has to be a way for those who don't drive a BMW to get a shot, or some medicine or see a doctor for a few bucks... paid by OUR tax dollars and by the RICH & WEALTHY. Yeah, you guys, who are truly reaping the MOST BENEFITS of OUR society. Maybe bringing the pharmaceutical industry and the HMO's down a few notches could help. If you want to find these people, they're also drinking cognac in French restaurants.

Oh, and for those who have a problem with this "socialist" line of thinking... You don't seem to mind how our "communistic" military complex is run (it runs on tax dollars, don't it? Run by the State, correct? Just like in old Communist Russia, right?) And I just don't want to give out any more handouts to these folks..
How much healthcare could be paid for with the money used to run election campaigns? Gosh, both parties (even the democrats) spend A LOT of money to get elected. Or...how many starving children could be cared for with the amount of money it takes to make just one movie?

My point? Please, please stop the party rhetoric and think about people. The democrats are the same people you speak of. They don't help "real" people either. Share your anger equally.

Oh...and welcome. Glad to have you aboard.

You are talking about for one education. When I was in grade school I was requirred to know and identify each state and its capital. My chilred were not required to learn this. I was required to read the great authors, now days the kids are given cliff notes. Just these two examples show how education has changed since the 1960's.

In my opinion why this is because of the teachers union and also the caliber of teachers we are getting these days. Teachers used to choose the this job because they wanted to have an impact on students. These days some of the people that go into teaching are the ones that private industry didn't hire. I am not saying this is the case with all teachers.

Teachers used to hold a high position in society. If my parents found out that a teacher had to discpline me, it was reinforced at home. Today if the teacher is rude to little Mary the parents are screaming for their head.
I think that the teachers unions and the DOE have outlived their usefulness to the citizens in this country. Give parents a choice on where their children are educated.
