The republicans have had 6 years of complete control. bill clinton never had the congress. it will take more than a few years to straigghten out the nightmare.
In fact I personally think that it will take an extraordinary leader from either party to undo the damage by Bush and I would support a republican or democrat president that I would think that could do it.

With that being said, I don't think the media was necessarily the reason teh Republicans lost. I think they lost because of their connection with Bush who is not popular. I also think that there are going to be some pissed off Democrats and independents when they found out they were voting for far left leadership. Kind of like those western Democrats. huh George? I don't think they have much in common with Pelosi and Rangel. Now these dipshits will be speaking ALL the time and I say the more the better. Americans will get to see what they voted for and they can really make a decision then.

Dom i agree with you. The republicans lost because of the negative fealings towards bush. THe Democrats openly stated that this is how they are going to run the 2006 election.
But this ill fealing from bush doesn's just come out of thin air. The perception of the President. Like it or not is molded by our press. And when you have 1 out 9 major news channels Pro republican there is a problem with the message america recieves.

Things don't need to be original. They just need to work.

So what's the plan George? That's all we've heard from you since day one... so cough it up. What's your wonder woman gonna do to "fix" everything?

>>>If we can set the clock back to the last few years of the Clinton administration, and pretend George Bush never existed, everything would be just fine with me.

Gix...gloating is the last thing I personally want to do about the big picture. Yes, I do feel better (specifically) about Rumsfled getting the hell out but in our little world here there have been several of you guys on the right that have agreed with me about that. Rumsfeld was way overdue to go and Cheney and Bush have been far too hardheaded to do something about it. To me it is sad that I really did take a tangible 'go a different way' vote from real people like you and me to actually get something done (not just disapproval of polls). Wow, we all are really the 'backstop'...WE ALL saved the day, not the elected officials ...I do love this country and we all did speak yesterday in the Democracy we call America. Again, this is not about gloating...
New Plan?
I hope the Democratic leadership really gets these damn committees and committee chairs together very quickly, roll up their sleeves, and start making some serious assessments of the Iraq War vs the continuing battle against terrorist activity (the later is very important to keep in place and not let up). This has to be done in consideration of what is a hold over from the past, what is currently going on, and what will happen in the next couple of years.
No one has any time to gloat, the more time gets pissed away the more we waste American lives and money.

Clinton did have the Congress. Two years in which the Democrats did have complete control (I think it was 54-46 in the Senate). It took him two years to lose the majority in both houses.

"So do you think the results would of been the same if the republican favoring story's dominated 77% of the news coverage..."
>>>Who knows? What I do know is this: 1) Republicans have plenty of media outlets and they know how to access them. 2) The mainstream media has ALWAYS favored the left, yet the Reps have managed to win many elections. 3) Media or no media, the country (including a lot of Reps) is pretty pissed about the direction the Bushies have taken us. Even if those people still favor the war, there are many other issues where Bush has fallen way short.
