Default Palin: Not ready for prime time...

Okay, well, it isn't her fault that someone hacked her account...but do you really think someone who uses yahoo email accounts for government business is ready for VP status?

Man, what a blithering idiot....

Palin E-Mail Hacker Says It Was Easy
By Kim Zetter September 18, 2008 | 1:05:46 PM
A person claiming to be the hacker who obtained access to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's private Yahoo e-mail on Tuesday has posted a supposed first-person account of the hack, revealing the relatively simple steps he says he took to crack the private e-mail of the Republican vice-presidential candidate.

The story was briefly posted Wednesday to the 4chan forum where the hack first surfaced. Bloggers have connected the handle of the poster, "Rubico," to an e-mail address, and tentatively identified the owner as a college student.

As detailed in the postings, the Palin hack didn't require any real skill. Instead, the hacker simply reset Palin's password using her birthdate, ZIP code and information about where she met her spouse -- the security question on her Yahoo account, which was answered (Wasilla High) by a simple Google search.

The simplicity of the attack, of course, makes it no less illegal.

The hacker said that he read all of the e-mails in the Palin account and found "nothing incriminating, nothing that would derail her campaign as I had hoped. All I saw was personal stuff, some clerical stuff from when she was governor…. And pictures of her family."

Once the hacker had read the e-mails in Palin's account, he said he suddenly realized what he'd done and how vulnerable he was to being caught, since he'd used only a single proxy service to hide his IP address.

yes I was behind a proxy, only one, if this shit ever got to the FBI I was fucked, I panicked, i still wanted the stuff out there but I didn’t know how to rapidshit all that stuff, so I posted the pass on /b/, and then promptly deleted everything, and unplugged my internet and just sat there in a comatose state

Once he posted the information to 4chan -- the stronghold of the Anonymous griefer collective -- a good Samaritan tried to step in to protect Palin by resetting her password and sending an e-mail to one of her aides, Ivy Frye. But the white hat posted a screen shot of that e-mail to 4chan, and it included the new password. That triggered a feeding frenzy on the forum, as legions of channers competed to log in and reset Palin's password again.

That flurry of activity triggered a security feature that froze Palin's account for 24 hours, which was long enough for the information to hit the media. Palin, or someone in her camp, closed the account early Wednesday morning.

The postings telling the story have been deleted from 4chan, so I've included them below.

Well, where does monkey boy keep his email accounts?

Monkey boy can't even talk without a prompter. He knows little to nothing about foreign affairs, he is as phoney as a $3 dollar bill, he's a gaffe machine and he can't give an honest response to anything w/o uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Besides liberal pinhead, Sarah is not running for president. I'd put Sarah against the other gaffe machine any day. Joe "stand up" Biden is a walking talking gaffe machine.

We're not talking a gaffe here...

If those accounts were being used for Alaska government business, then it is a huge fucking security hole....

True, she's running as the possible replacement for the oldest candidate ever....

and she's nuts.

Oh dear god, it sounds as if she sent a couple of business related emails from a personal account. I have sent business related emails from my personal account when I am away from the office. People do it all the time. Trying to make this into a big deal is a joke.

The one good thing about palin is that she is showing you all to be nuts. With all the things you could attack her on, that you all go for such trivial crap really reflects poorly on you.

Security of government information is not an important matter?
(no nothing important was found.)

Yes, people do do it all the time, and that is why the hackers/spammers and other assholes can get away with so much fraud....

It shows a lack of knowledge of many things, and poor judgement, IMO.

Actually, I found this more amusing than alarming....

Security of Government information in Alaska? Not really.

From the article, it sounds as if the hacker found nothing (and he was looking for dirt), so my guess was that it was probably standard correspondence of little importance.

Again, I know you hate Palin, but your attacks reflect more poorly on you than on her. Attack her for valid issues if you want to score points.

Election Night 2008...it will be a date that will go down in History....as frothing at the mouth as the Left is over her I will not be surprised if they DO attempt to suspend the Constitution.

Information security is a HUGE issue. Especially when you get to the US national goverment level.

I already pointed out that nothing was found.

Hate? I don't hate Palin...but she sure doesn't impress me either.
I've listened to her....

Like I said, I think it's more amusing than alarming.....

And how would "the left" do that?

Please, I need another good laugh today!

Prove that important information was compromised then MAYBE you have a point.

And yes, you hate her. Perhaps not her as a person, but definitely what she stands for.
