Scamming the public---the real Republican forte
Being an atheist I was naturally suspicious when Bush and his gang of thieves came up with the idea of the OFFICE IF FAITH-BASED INITIATIVES. It did not seem proper to take public monies and distribute them to religious organizations---for whatever reason. It seemed wrong then. It seems wrong today.
A book will be coming out on October the sixteenth entitled 'TEMPTING FAITH
written by David Kuo, the second in command of the office from 2001 til 2003.
Mr. Kuo, a self-proclaimed Christian Conservative, claims that the basic idea of the organization was never charitable, but was and remained purely a political operation. He points out that in the first year of operation, less money was spent on charity than had been spent the last year of the Clinton Administration.
This was another of those phony ideas that sounded good, but which I and others knew from the start was almost certainly a political, not a charitable conception.
How many more reasons do we need to throw Bush and the Republicans out of power? The administrtation and the Congress have shown themelves to be totally inept in all areas except making the rich richer. They can talk all they want about the improving economy. I do not see any signs of it where I live. But with the destruction of the American middle class, a strong charitable program will become increasingly important...and now it turns out that their charities have been a scam all along.
