Default Once A Piece Of Shit......

John Edwards' fellow Democrats see silence as a bad move
BY CELESTE KATZ

Big-name Democrats don't know if John Edwards really has a love child - but some think he's definitely got a problem.

For two weeks since renewed but unproven reports that he fathered an illegitimate daughter appeared in the National Enquirer, Edwards has kept silent other than to denounce "tabloid trash."

Bad move, party pros say: His role at the Democratic convention, just 17 days away - and his political future - are now in peril.

"The political consequences of leaving something like this unattended are fairly severe," said ex-Democratic National Committee Chairman Don Fowler.

"If no response is made, it festers - and the people who make decisions about opportunities to make speeches, or be on the ticket, or be in the cabinet, or play any significant role politically, have to take these things into consideration," he told the Daily News.

The Enquirer story, though uncorroborated by others, has been seen by millions on political blogs and is joke fodder for Jay Leno.

"The story has taken on a life of its own - regardless of what the underlying facts may or may not be," said Democratic consultant Chris Lehane.

Asked about the love-child story when the Enquirer first headlined it in December, the ex-senator called it "completely untrue, ridiculous" and professed his love for his wife, Elizabeth, who has incurable cancer.

The supposed paramour, videographer Rielle Hunter, also dismissed the stories.

But the Enquirer came back two weeks ago to report sighting Edwards and Hunter at a Beverly Hills hotel. On Wednesday, the supermarket weekly carried a blurry photo of a man it said was Edwards holding a baby.

Edwards spokeswoman Andrea Purse had no comment. The North Carolina Democrat ducked questions from a home-state newspaper last week.

Since quitting the presidential race, Edwards endorsed Obama with such enthusiasm that it inspired talk he could be brought in to an Obama administration.

"John's a relatively young guy" and a good fit for at least three possible cabinet jobs, Fowler said of the 55-year-old ex-trial lawyer. "I don't think his potential [is] in any sense limited to making a speech at the convention or being on the ticket."

The Obama campaign did not respond to requests for comment about Edwards, and a convention spokeswoman yesterday noted the speakers lineup in Denver hasn't been announced.

"Most folks are taking a wait-and-see approach," a Democratic source said.

But Lehane said Edwards is running out of time.

"It just becomes inherently problematic to come to the convention when you know that there will the largest gathering of media outside the Olympics, bored to death, desperate for a story other than what's been prepackaged for them," he said.

Public relations guru Howard Rubenstein told The News that if Edwards were his client, he'd tell him he's "got to resort to the truth as his defense" - or his career's over.

"He's not going to get away with silence," he said.

Another double standard by the liberal news media. If this were a Republican, they would be all over this like white on rice. (Oh is that a racist saying?)

Nothing wrong with fucking men if that's what you like. Leaves more women for the rest of us guys. After all, isn't that what modern politics is all about...fucking as many people as you can in order for you to get off?

Kind of like what Democrats said about Drudge when the Lewinsky scandal broke. Wasn't it the Enquirer who also broke Jesse Jackson's issues as well? Here's a reality check for all of you whiny, bitchy liberals. If this were Newt Gingrich, Giuliani or anyone with an 'R' next to his name you'd be all over this and the NY Times would have this as their page 1 story. Furthermore, for the idiot whose best comeback is "Well at least he fucks women" maybe you ought to tell that to the baby that he recklessly and irresponsibly brought into the world. Your hypocracy is stunning and you are too stu[pid and wrapped up in your party labels to even understand that. The people you call leaders and the people you admire are really a reflection of the stupidity, ignorance and mentality of the far-left. Thank you for once again proving my point for me.

August 8, 2008 --

JOHN Edwards has gone, in a few months, from being one of the Democrats' strongest presidential candidates to a party pariah who won't be allowed to speak at the national convention later this month.

The handsome former North Carolina senator is considered a stirring orator, and still has 19 delegates pledged to him, which would make him a key speaker under normal circumstances.

But Edwards has been dogged by stories in the National Enquirer about an alleged affair with a campaign videographer, Rielle Hunter, who gave birth in February to a daughter said to be Edwards' "love child."

Top Dems say that if Edwards doesn't publicly address the scandal, and put it to rest, he won't be allowed to become a embarrassing distraction during the convention in Denver, where Sen. Barack Obama will accept the presidential nomination.

"The big media [have] tried to be responsible and handle this with kid gloves, but it's clearly getting ready to bust out," Democratic strategist Gary Pearce told the Charlotte Observer. "If it's not true, he's got to stand up and say, 'This is not true. That is not my child, and I'm going to take legal action against the people who are spreading these lies.' It's not enough to say, 'That's tabloid trash.' "

Don Fowler, a former Democratic National Committee chair, told the paper: "If there is not an explanation that's satisfactory, acceptable and meets high moral standards, the answer is 'no' - he would not be a prime candidate to make a major address to the convention."

DNC spokesperson Natalie Wyeth told Page Six: "It's tradition that all candidates for the nomination are invited to attend, and this year will be no different."

But a veteran party operative told us, "I don't think anyone wants to go near him unless he answers all the questions." Another Democrat said, "He will probably go, but do no interviews and try to be invisible."

Several attempts to contact Edwards drew no response.

The Enquirer? So how are the two headed chickens this week and the 2,323 lb midget? Who cares if Edwards has a love child? It is his gig. BTW, fuck off.

Somehow, I get the feeling you didn't feel that way when Gingrich left his wife while she was suffering from cancer. What does it prove about Edwards? That he's a piece of sit, basically. It also proves once and for all what I've said about this charlatan since 2004. While I always like to be proved right, in this case his poor wife loses, his kids lose and his new baby loses. Regarding the Enquirer, I don't give a shit about it. I do give a shit however when these phonies try to show the rest of us how moral and genuine they are and then show us what we already knew. That they aren't. Everyone but you it seem seems to be able to see through the transparency.
