GOP kills effort to release oil from US stockpile

WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Republicans have killed a Democratic effort to release 70 million barrels of oil from the government's emergency stockpile. Democrats hoped the extra oil would have helped lower pump prices right away.
Their bill would have forced the Energy Department to release the oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. That stockpile now holds 700 million barrels of oil in reserve.

The 70 million barrels is about a three-day supply for the United States. Democrats said it would have meant immediate relief at the pump -- just as releases did in 1991, 2000 and 2005.

The bill won a clear 268-157 majority Thursday. But it still lost because Democratic leaders brought up the bill under terms requiring a two-thirds vote to pass.

An emergency that costs the USA $500 million per day, like the extra $2 per gallon we are paying at pump?

Sissies alway prefer to get screwed, rather than fighting back.

Just bend over the table or ... something bad might happen ...

Theres a difference between an emergency and high gas prices. We should NOT open up the reserves just to convenience ourselves at the pump. That oil is there in times of national emergency when the shit really hits the fan. I totally agree with this move.

Uh, you better check the latest directive from liberal HQ.

"Supply has nothing to do with high gas prices."
(Hence there's no need to drill)

Don't need to, I've seen Reid and Pelosi say that "Supply won't decrease prices"

Hell, half the libtards around here will tell you the same thing.

Nancy could have brought it up any way she wanted...she runs the place, you just aren't intelligent enough to recognize a ploy.

The liberal is a fascinating creature. What is missing in the duplicitous spew is this; And I wouldn't be surprised to hear this in due time. Remember back when we entered Iraq, it was said, "War for oil". Next we will hear, "we should have got the oil from the war". And this will be said with a straight face, (in Pelosi's case a rather stretched out straight face)

If the libs don't want to drill for oil, to reduce the prices, I suggest they check Shumer's head. I think at a glance he's got at least a billion barrels of oil in it.

BTW toxic your libs also want to increase taxes on your gallon of gas. And you are worried about a 3 day supply.
