It also demonstrates the stark difference between traditional American values, and what the left thinks is acceptable. There is no way to interpret the second amendment as a collective right. Any sound thinking, non-Obama constitutional scholar will tell you that if you consider the language of the second amendment to be "collective", meaning of course a states right, rather than individualistic, you would than have to consider the rest of the bill of rights as collective rather than individual. Consider the words of the founders themselves as to the collective arguement:

No freeman shall ever be debarred the use of arms.

Those in power should have a healthy dose of fear of the people. We are the ultimate check and balance in this nation, and that is what was intended. The entire bill of rights is an anti-government document, so is it any wonder why those whom believe they are the final arbitrator of our rights would much rather see this population disarmed?
