Default Time to drop the bomb on China?

With all of the things China has done to us in the last few yrs (poisoned food, lead paint on kiddie toys etc) and now I read this today, how is it that we aren't nuking the hell out of that place right now?

WASHINGTON (AP) - A congressman said Wednesday the FBI has found that four of his government computers have been hacked by sources working out of China.

Rep. Frank Wolf, a Virginia Republican, said that similar incidents - also originating from China - have taken place on computers of other members of the House and at least one House committee.

A spokesman for Wolf said the four computers in his office were being used by staff members working on human rights issues and that the hacking began in August 2006. Wolf is a longtime critic of the Chinese government's human rights record.

The congressman suggested the problem probably goes further. "If it's been done in the House, don't you think that they're doing the same thing in the Senate?" he asked.

"I think this is very bad because you have the Chinese compromising and gaining access to computers of any number of members of the House and a major committee of the House," Wolf told The Associated Press. "We don't know how many others."

Wolf declined to say how many other incidents of congressional computers being compromised he knows about or to identify which House committee he referred to.

In calling for hearings in both the House and Senate, Wolf said there "probably are members serving in Congress whose computers have been compromised and they may not even know it."

Separately, U.S. authorities are investigating whether Chinese officials secretly copied the contents of a government laptop computer during a visit to China by Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez and used the information to try to hack into Commerce Department computers.

The FBI declined to comment. In Beijing, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs had no immediate comment. Last week, China denied the accusations regarding Gutierrez's laptop and the alleged effort to hack Commerce Department computers.

Wolf said he has known about the hacking for a long time but was discouraged from discussing it publicly by people inside U.S. government, whom he refused to identify.

"The problem has been that no one wants to talk about this issue," said Wolf. "Every time I've started to do something I've been told 'You can't do this.' A lot of people have made it very, very difficult."

Wolf plans to introduce a resolution that he says will help ensure protection for all House computers and information systems. In a draft of prepared remarks he planned to deliver on the House floor Wednesday afternoon, Wolf says he is "deeply concerned that Congress is not adequately aware of or protected" from cyber attacks.

"My own suspicion is I was targeted by China because of my long history of speaking out about China's abysmal human rights record," Wolf says in his remarks. He said Congress should hold hearings, specifically the House Intelligence Committee, Armed Services Committee and Government Operations Committee.

Wolf's resolution calls for the chief administrative officer and sergeant at arms of the House, in consultation with the FBI, to alert House members and their staffs to the danger of electronic attacks. He also wants lawmakers to be fully briefed on ways to safeguard official records from electronic security breaches.

Speaking generally in May 2006, Wolf called Chinese spying efforts "frightening" and said it was no secret that the United States is a principal target of Chinese intelligence services.

Why the hell are their computers even connected to an outside network? How hard is it to have one computer for email and surfing for child porn connected to the net, and one with sensitive info on it that, if at all, is connected only to an intra-net?

fascinating idea here, I have not thought about this type of action against
China until your bold although thought provoking post, have you ever thought about running for president? I've seen the before and after pictures of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and that is excactly what china and the world needs right now, your type of rational thinking is a breath of radioactive air thanks!

I believe it could be justified.... spying is an act of war and dropping 3 or 4 nukes over there would make it quick and painless for us ....casualties for them... catastrophic amounts... casualties for us none (well, except for the people who ate the poisoned food and the kids who ate lead paint) as long as the bombers make it back. War over in 1 day no more enemy. I have seen a trend with China 'accidentally' sending us defective/dangerous products for a few yrs now... Doing it once .. sure shit happens... but after a while it sorta starts looking like it's no accident. The rest of the world already hates us anyway, what are they gonna hate us more?!? And after thinking about it a bit, this would also reduce global demand for oil since china is part of the problem of increasing demand. So in the end, all the protesters could still dust off their signs from the garage that say "No War For Oil" and everyone is happy

So do Canada and Mexico.

Of course, we spy on all of them - including China, as well.

I mean drop the biggest whatever it is that we have as many of them as we have and remove their civilization from the map. We have grown soft as a nation and these other countries are now starting to toy with us because they know we won't do anything about it...... I would. I say nukes because I think that's the biggest thing we've got but who really knows? The gov likes to keep these things secret..... China probably knows what we have better than our citizens do.
