I don't know of anywhere that you can carry a weapon exposed like you saw in the old cowboy movies.

I did see a man in a grocery store in Greenville TN recently with a Glock strapped to his side. He was obviously a Redneck American, with Dicky Do disease, along with fat wife syndrome and slack jawed kids. Everyone, including me, gave him a very wide berth. The reason being that if anyone really feels the need to let everyone know they are "packing" you have to wonder about their motivation

OK: there is a problem here: there are now about 300 million Americans, sometimes living in congested cities, and if anyone person is allowed to "carry & pack" guns, then everyone is allowed to do the same thing.

There is simply no practical way to sort our who has good sense, and who has good impulse control, and who would use a gun only to protect themselves & their family: not to mention "protect themselves & family" from exactly what actions? Protect from rude language? Protect from highway insults? Protect from obscene glances? What if a co-worker told lies about you?

Guns for & on everyone may have been fine 200 years ago, where there were hardly 4 million people, in an agrian society: but not now: the idea is nostalgic insanity. .....pjwky

oh this is brilliant, for years i have been reduced to just a guy packing a concealed weapon in my pants just waiting for that point in time where I could whip it out, now after reading this article I feel more confident about what I always wanted to do which is to whip it out and leave it there for the whole world to see , whether I'm running down a box of sanitary napkins for the wife or picking the kids up from soccer I can scare the shit out of my family and yours. there's nothing that says I'm cool and comfortable like ordering a hot dog a costco with a 357 under my arm, little billy zit face will probably pay a little more attention to my change. hey kid I gave you a twenty!

In America, we have certain groups that are targeted for hate crimes (White men, rich white people and white Christians). Obviously, they need to carry guns to protect themselves from the hatred this ignorant society promotes.

Have you ever looked at the statistics of those with concealed carry permits. An extremely small percentage are ever involved in any illegal activities. In Florida only 700 permits out of 1.5 million were revoked for criminal activity. People who will fly off the handle and take out a co worker etc will do so with what ever is available. Last weekend in Japan some disgruntled Japanese man stabbed 17 people, killing 7 of them. Why? Because he was pissed off at the world.

There are very strict laws and regulations of when you can and can't use a weapon. Rational people will think twice about using one for no reason. Irrational people will pick up a brick because you took their parking space.

So, you idea is to punish the 99% law abiding because someone, somewhere, may decide to go berserk?

There are some communities that have imposed certain restrictions...it should be dealt with at that level...there aren't that many and this is about wearing a weapon legally...if you are stupid enough to do it in a restricted community then you deserve at the minimum, a ticket.

That is eactly right.

Here in Texas, us Leftys have been exterminating thousands of rich christian men every year. Thank god we control the media or you would have heard about it.

Generally, we arrest the rich christian men, take their bibles and lock them up on remote compounds. All the whiners are made into women and provided to Mormons to be their bitches.

Bush and Rove help set the whole system up.

I prefer to avoid that sort of situation......

I'm not sure I see any benefit to "open carry" anyway?
If you're also packing a backpack full of dope, concealed carry might be the way to go...but otherwise, it's been my experience when I used to open carry my Glock .40 cal, I never had any problems...

location...location...location...

Damn glad I had one of mine handy when we pulled up to the ranch and the old lady was greeted by a rattlesnake...tastes like chicken.

Or down by the water hole where the blackberry's were prime for the pickin'...

That one was a Mohave Green...wouldn't want to eat one, they are deadly...the venom attacks the nervous system...rumor is they showed up...only in this county shortly after a train crash many years ago and some claim that some specimens escaped...who knows?

I prefer my 22 mag 9 shot revolver for general hiking.
