This is an embarrassment. Only a Congress with a make up of trial lawyers, who can't legislate, and need to have the courts lock in their agenda, would sue OPEC.
And the answer to our fuel concerns are so easy to solve without courts, without moving legislation to take oil company profits, and here Pelosi goes half cocked in litigation.
There is no need to down size cars, no need to force carpooling, that is killing this economy. You fix it by drilling and producing our own domestic stock.
If we were allowed to produce our own, we would eliminate the need for foreign oil, and would assure our meeting the demand we need. In the phrase "free flow of oil" lies what we as a Nation are about FREEDOM. When Congress sets out to sue OPEC, because they won't allow our own production speaks to what is rong in Washington. It shows the leadership void that is crammed in the Capitol.
BTW, what does suing Arabs do to making "these nations like us" as Obama claims currently they don't? When has any lawsuit created a bond of co-operation, and a foundation for goodwill?

Will, since I retired after busting my butt for 56 years, I hope you work more than I do. But you didn't answer my question? How many others were setting in line to pick up a kid that needs the exercise a little walk would provide.
You helicopter parents would make me laugh if you were not so fucking pathetic.

What was the point? The point was getting more OIL into the Market Place, their Solution? Sue Foreign entities....instead of concentrating on getting OUR Oil on the Market....you just can't make this shit up.

You assume an aweful lot!
My child goes to a private school that is more than 15 miles from our house. Take into account the interstate, I don't think my kids will be riding thier bikes! Take into account their age, not happening!!! As for most other parents, I can't speak for them.... Perhaps you could start a movement, rather than just bitching about children and their transportation to and from school... Or perhaps you would like some governement program to fix it for you?

Then we make ourselves look even more foolish with this legislation when all we have to do to bring down world oil prices is take the USA off the world oil market by drilling for our own oil.
Force OPEC to reduce prices when we have the power to do that ourselves? Blame Canada and Mexico for charging market prices for oil when we can bring down the price to a ridiculously low level ourselves? How stupid do we think the world is?
Every one in the world knows what kind of reserves we have and that our own environmental wackos are keeping us from getting it. We deserve to pay what we are paying and even more. Like it or not, the enemy is not them, it is us.

Yeah... not quite. Oil is a world market. Do you honestly think that if we drilled for oil in our own back yard, the oil companies would sell it for any less than they could get on the open market? OPEC is indeed slightly to blame, but it's the market speculators that are really fudging things up.
See if you can wrap your noodle around this... let all the other countries deplete their supplies, then when we have the last viable reserves, and oil is at $300 a barrel, let's tap 'em and run to the bank using it to fuel our own economic growth.
You all do realize that oil doesn't just equal gas, right? It's plastic, fertilizer, pharmaceuticals, and on and on and on.
I have seen so many threads here decrying the need to let capitalism be capitalism, no caps on profits, etc. We on earth would you think any oil company is going to risk their profits (especially when most are partnered with foreign oil companies) when foreign oil companies are banking so much? It's a ridiculous assertion.

So you chose, during this time of high gas prices, to waste even more gas. You are a classic example of the American I have been discussing with Mulp. You will continue to buy just as much gas, regardless of the cost. Before you demand frugality from the police, practice it yourself.
Did you ever think there is a reason to leave the police cars running. It's the portable communications equipment they carry. So many times it won't work off the cars battery alone, especially for more than a few minutes.

Notice the blowhards are suddenly quiet about all the free market shit they spout when it comes to others practicing it on us.
What were they saying? Was it, "what's the matter with OPEC making a profit"?
