The Book of Rev. was written to explain to the followers of Christ...THINGS THAT WOULD "shortly" COME TO PASS, as the majority of the symbolic messages found in that book have come to pass. As far as "tribulations"...hell mankind and especially those of the Christian faith have been living in a constant state of tribulation from the time the first Christian was thrown to the first lion.
