She is very right about everyone speaking English. People have long kept their native languages at home, but speak English outside of their homes as it impossible to be part of the US without being able to communicate with other Americans. Americans such as police, firefighters, 911 dispatchers, coworkers, doctors, and so on. Unless you are silly enough to believe that every other American can learn every single language spoken in homes across America?

honored? did you not hear the opening speech that was made about him?
jeez, sweetie do some research before you start babbling.
there is no need for people to be forced to learn English. its their choice. if they choose not to they are unable to get jobs like police, firefighters, 911 dispatchers, coworkers, doctors, and so on. They have to deal with waiting for translators and they have to deal with not being able to communicate with everyone.
I was under the impression that this was a free country
furthermore, its not about her being conservative. plenty of conservatives aren't as radical as she is. they don't think women are inferior, they believe any woman can be raped by any man, they don't think the atom bomb is a good thing, they believe in global warming, and they don't think English Majors are potential killers.
she's not conservative, she's ridiculous.

Do you mind finding where she said 'women are inferior'?
I was not suprised when I heard Cho was an English major as you cannot preach hatred and not have some nut soak it up and act on it. I have no doubt that the radical proffesors pulled the pin on the Cho bomb and tossed him in among his fellow students, then they turned on Cho to distance themselves from their accountability.
People are dying due to not learning English and you believe it is a good thing. Think logically, if a person is having a heart attack due they have time to wait while multiple languages are attempted to find the one in which you need to talk with someone. I have no doubt you think only English and Spanish are spoken in the US but that is not accurate. There are numerous slavic languages, numerous oriental, romance languages, germanic languages, numerous african languages, and you want the people to die while waiting for the appropriate language to be found? English is what every American needs to learn for their safety and ours.
Why was he allowed to talk at all? Why was he honored that way when nothing positive could come from it? I heard the opening dialogue and it was unflattering, but he was not an American, he had no claim to freedom of speech. Instead a group of liberals choose to honor him by giving him a voice. You would shut up a lady whom you have idealogical differences with while defending a nut being given a voice to rant against the US.

read all of her quote where she says women can't/shouldn't do this-or-that. I listed one or two on the first page. but google and you'll find more. perhaps even in the links I left.

as I said before, if you don't want to learn english, don't. but accept the reactions to your inaction

its not an honor to come speak. perhaps in your view. public forums are a way to increase knowledge and dialouge- its appropreate for those things to be part of a university.
I don't care if she speaks. its her right. I care about her being honored with a honorary degree. why is this so hard for you?

You should learn to tolerate people with opinions that differ from yours. Well not really, you have the right to say what you want. But realize that what you see as bad, many people agree with.
You could be right about honorary degrees. I would say that all honorary degrees should be stopped at all universities.

I am a stunch supporter of the 1st amendment
I don't have an issue with honorary degress in general. but when students and falculty are protesting, I don't think that the dean should just go ahead and ignore them.
I don't know if you have looked at the story but thousands of students, alumni, and staff protested before and during the ceremony. its not right for a few members of the board to ignore every else involved with the school. nor is it right to give a degree and then say 'we don't support her'.

If this self loathing pig is right, and there is an avenging God, there is a special place in hell for her.
She embodies all that can be flawed in a human being

What of the students who supported the lady and her getting an honorary degree?
Staff at a university, reminds me of the 80 professors at Duke who wrote a letter condemning the Duke lacrasse players.

I think they still should have looked for another speaker to get an honorary degree. there will always be someone requesting someone else, but mass protest like this is completely ridiculous. I didn't know but she was there at people's graduation, would you like mass protest at your graduation or to have to protest at your graduation?
it seems very possible to find someone most people either like and want or can tolerate or have indifference about.
I don't think that comparison is valid. they were boys accused of a crime (and sadly jocks are frequent perpetraitors in rapes due to the group mentality and other factors. there is a correlation), she is being judged on things she has done and has said- on things she admits to. she even rebuked her thousands of protesters.

If there are politics involved there will always be someone who does not want the person honored. Even a terrorist like Osama bin Laden would have supporters at universities.
When people who brag about being tolerant are being intolerant I will call bullshit on them, just as in this case. I will say they need to learn to be more tolerant to opinions they do not like.
The Duke professors should never have done what they did. They rushed to judge the young men guilty because they were well to do and white while the 'victim' was poor and black. To make it worse one of the men used the 'n' word so they just HAD to be guilty. I used the Duke case to show my contempt for the staff at universities. They tend to be a bunch of liberals who want to shut up all opinions that differ from theirs.

Having standards is not a lack of tolerance, and expressing disgust at those who validate intolerance, bigotry and hate, is not “trying to shut up anyone”
Just as Shalafly has a right to be a self loathing anti American Ava Braun wannabe cunt, I have a right to point out that is exactly what she is.
Free speech cuts both ways
