But the $40 billion in loot the oilmen will get from us taxpayers for doubling the Reserve is nothing compared to the boost in the worldwide price of crude caused by this massive, mad purchase. While the Congressional audience didn't even bother polite applause for the reserve purchase plan, there's no doubt they were whooping it up in Saudi Arabia. Clearly, the state of the Saudi-Bush union is still pretty good.

We have competing blame. One of you says it is speculators and one says it is the oil companies. Talk amongst yourself and see if you can determine if the speculators or the oil companies are to blame. Then figure out if speculators should be hit with a windfall profit tax.
How about Bershire-Hathaway making 20% more profit compared to Exxon making 2.8% more? Or Conoco-Phillips loosing BILLIONS.
You would be better off tackling the idiots like Bill Clinton who kept us from developing Anwar which would now be producing enough oil to significantly lower the price by stopping speculators. Or the Democratics who are stopping us from developing other new oil reserves.

Ahh, the internets.
A place where people expound endlessly and with Olympian pomposity on topics about which they are wholly ignorant.

I just glued your mom's eyes shut. And you still don't know what the fuck you're talking about, junior. Although you being able to actually string a proper fucking sentence together makes you a big shot around here I guess.

Bush is doing his job. He has done exactly what he was appointed to do...
case in point:
In 2005 Exxon Mobil recorded the biggest corporate profits in history...
only to break their own record in 2006 by again recording the largest gross and net profits in the history of the world!
In 2006 Exxon Mobil posted gross profits of 377 BILLION (more than most countries!) and a net profit of 39.5 BILLION.
Bush is an oil man and his #1 duty is to serve the interests of big corporations, especially BIG OIL.

You absolutely sure the current price of gas is Bush's fault? By the way, what's your source for your numbers on the tripling of pump prices since Bush took office? It would appear that the biggest jump in prices took place since the democunts took over Congress.
A little over two years ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate
(stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

Fascinating, Democratics take over Congress and the economy slumps.

Think you pay a lot for gas? Try these prices.
$8+ per gal - Most of Europe
$12 per gal - Aruba
$18+ per gal - Sierra Leone

You must work for an Oil Company. For that I call you a traitor. 1. Did their record profits help our Union? Did their record profits help in R & D to break the stranglehold of Oil, our foreign dependence on energy? Do you give a shit, or, our you padding your pockets just as the CEO's did before they bailed. Bring on the Gallows.
