If he picks Mittens I will be forced to vote third party. With many other value voters.

He better try to get someone who knows about the economy, because he doesn't have a clue.

Here's a thought, maybe McCain doesn't need to know anything about the economy? We'd probably be better off if the politicians kept their hands out of it, and let the markets sort themselves out. How about the next guy should just leave things alone? Hey, it got Clinton by for 8 years.

Now this sounds like the voice of reason.

I think McCain's best pick would be Trent Lott. With Lott on the ticket, he'd shore up the conservative base, especially in the South. Not only that, but Lott has extensive experience in both Houses of Congress - I think the ideal role for a Vice President is as legislator-in-chief - someone who will shepherd the Administration's legislative agenda through Congress, and there's no one better for that in either party than Senator Lott. Additionally, Lott has charisma - he can handle himself in a debate - but not too much of it... not too many people will think the ticket is upside down if he's the Vice Presidential nominee. Plus, he's probably not going to fritter away his time as Vice President getting ready for a run at the top job.

Of course, on the con side, there's the whole issue of Strom Thurmond's retirement and the speech which Lott made - which some people incorrectly viewed as racist. The Democrats could probably try to make some hay out of it, but I think that could backfire on them if they made too much out of it.

Cord, I can see your logic but I really think that he will pick someone other than Lott.
