The threatening radio transmission heard at the end of a video showing harassing maneuvers by Iranian patrol boats in the Strait of Hormuz may have come from a locally famous heckler known among ship drivers as the “Filipino Monkey.”

Since the Jan. 6 incident was announced to the public a day later, the U.S. Navy has said it’s unclear where the voice came from. In the videotape released by the Pentagon on Jan. 8, the screen goes black at the very end and the voice can be heard, distancing it from the scenes on the water.

“We don’t know for sure where they came from,” said Cmdr. Lydia Robertson, spokeswoman for 5th Fleet in Bahrain. “It could have been a shore station.”

While the threat — “I am coming to you. You will explode in a few minutes” — was picked up during the incident, further jacking up the tension, there’s no proof yet of its origin. And several Navy officials have said it’s difficult to figure out who’s talking. "

The whole thing had me shaking my head. It reminded me more of the blair witch project than something news worthy.

It was like taking the Mouse that Roared seriously.

You people have no clue. As a frequent traveler outside the US. I appreciate what we have and what it has taken since the formation of this great nation to hold onto and protect. You owe it to yourself to move away without taking anything with you and try to live in another country. I am not talking about jumping the border to Canada were the differnce would be crappy medical care payed by the goverment (ie payed by you through higher taxes). Move to China, Thailand, Malaysia, or some "3rd world" country where you will have to learn to keep your mouth shut, get off your butt and work. Even a beautifull and modern country as Singapore. You can live well but do not speak ill of the goverment.

Get a clue and appreciate what you have. We have a president who is willing to stand up and not let a bunch of zealots runn around and kill our people even, you "anti american idiots".

Iran is the fueling the unrest and murder of the good Iraqi people and our soldiers who are there to help them recover from being ruled by a tyrant. Our Men and Women of the armed forced will be home whne the job is done.

Laughs! You need to get a clue pal, nobody is more anti American than Bush!

Cranky - You have no idea how lucky you / we, are as Americans do you? Would you rather have had Gore as President on 9/11? Perhaps he would have just put the bad guys in his famous "lock box". Would you rather we just close the door and just hope it all goes away? Do you want to wait until they and kill more Americans on our soil? How is President Bush Anti- American? What has he done that has not been with the intent of being in the best interest of the country? Has everything gone perfect. No. Have mistakes been made. Yes. But they were all done with the purpose being what is good for America. He does not pander and do things to make people happy. He does what is right for our country. It si easy to look back and be a Monday morning Quarterback or put the fence up after the kid falls off the cliff. Having the guts and beliefs to make a decision it what this country needs. Not someone who just wants to talk about it.

So - You get a clue and stop wining and appreciate and be thankful for what you have.
