Default You think the news is not controlled?

You would be very mistaken my friend,
A research team at Sonoma State University has recently finished conducting a network analysis of the boards of directors of the ten big media organizations in the US.
The team determined that only 118 people comprise the membership on the boards of director of the ten big media giants.

This is a small enough group to fit in a moderate size university classroom. These 118 individuals in turn sit on the corporate boards of 288 national and international corporations. In fact, eight out of ten big media giants share common memberships on boards of directors with each other.

NBC and the Washington Post both have board members who sit on Coca Cola and J. P. Morgan, while the Tribune Company, The New York Times and Gannett all have members who share a seat on Pepsi. It is kind of like one big happy family of interlocks and shared interests. The following are but a few of the corporate board interlocks for the big ten media giants in the US:

Wondering where your news comes from? One of the underlying principles of a “propaganda environment” is an information complex in which the values of the system are internalized. Remember that traditional media are corporations in the business of selling programming, including news. One of the criticisms of traditional media (as opposed to networked media or citizen journalism) is that they generate their own reality: they define what is “information,” not the reverse (i.e. the Fox News slogan, “We report. You Decide.”).

Only rarely do the carefully orchestrated presentations of news get unhinged: natural disasters and major events like 9/11. I found it curious, though, that within 12 hours of the airplanes hitting the WTC, news companies had already edited amateur video into a narrative that looked like a film trailer. This is an example of how events are made into packages. Anyhow, below is an interesting map of the interlocking interests between news companies and other major multinational corporations

All we have to do to know that the News Media has been "controlled" for years especially during the "Old Cronkite Days" is to look at how upsest the far Left Wing Democrats are with Cable News, Talk Radio, Internet and Bloggers, the Liberal Media can no longer "Hide" what they don't want us to know and it is driving them insane, we just went through some of their Panicky Insanity with Pelosi trying to "Censor" Talk Radio and that sleazy little jerk Harry Reid and "His Letter To Limbaugh"

Yes the media is controlled but not as bad as it used to be we still aren't as bad as Castor, Chavez, N Korea, Russia, China etc.

We know more now than we did when those left wing liberal socialists were feeding us all their "Lefty Sh!t" (NBC-ABC-CBS-PBS)

People whining about the the news being controlled, and labeling everything from the government as a lie, or propaganda, while treating YouTube videos, NY Times reports, and anything from MovingOn, as "holey writ", just crack me up. Its so damn funny, I'm surprised I haven't hurt myself laughing.

You certainly seem to have a vested interest in 'buisness as usual."

Well, over the past 50 years, business has been very good, to me. I own a number of rental properties, live in a nice house, have two nice cars, belong to two country clubs, have a very comfortable retirement income, and throughly enjoy tweeting the noses of small minded fools on the Internet.

So, whats wrong with "business as usual"?

WHATS WRONG? Are you blind man. You are the enemy. You are self sufficient and self reliant. That is what is wrong with this country. Too many people like you who can take care of themselves and who would rather be in charge of their life instead of the government. Come back down to earth man. You are living a fairy tale. You can't be happy being self sufficient.

Our positions and lifestyles are very similar. While I see some very bad times ahead for the general public, which could effect my holdings, you seem not to see it comming.

I believe fiscal responsibility of the government as imperative to economic health of the country. Some of us are bullet-proof, but surely we too will be affected by a sharp turn down in the economy. I only see one candidate who truely understands or even cares about what the populace is about to endure.

The media is obviously a tool of the ultra wealthy few and I don't know about you, but I get highly pissed when they try to manipulate what we hear and lie to me.

I've been listening to idiots, tell me I was foolish, for buying Calif. property in the 1950's, 60's and 70's, for a long time. They have all said the same thing you just muttered. Well, I've done very well, thank you. Hell, if I were 20 years younger I would be getting ready to buy a whole lot more residential property, but at this point in my life, I don't want any more.

You go ahead, keep worrying about it, let your fears rule your life. Just don't expect everyone to follow you down that dead end road.
