Reuters sits in a profession that is like any other profession, high standards need to be kept at all times. They need to do some firing ASAP, this is indefensible and outrageous. Liberal or not.

It's been happening for years now. I've been part of the media before, and I don't see why anyone really believes them anymore.

My take, correct me if you think differently, is that once the Pentagon Papers and Watergate problems had been uncovered (which were legitimate stories the public had right to know in my opinion) jounalists had to break bigger and bigger stories in order to boost carreers and the gloves came off to smear both sides. I have never had perception of a Liberal or Convserative Media...Dan Rather trying to break the stuff on Bush was for ratings, the stuff Nina Totanberg did during the Clarence Thomas trial was a smear and the Whitewater stuff during Clinton's administrtion was a smear to get ratings...using Billy Carter to smear Jimmy Carter was one of the great classics of all time...that was just after Watergate, they were real desperate for a pulitzer at that point.

Before that time the person you turned to for this kind of stuff was Walter Wenchell or Rex Reed in pages of Variety magazine out of Hollywood. You have to try and get a # of news sources and be aware of what is going on in the world.

I am very sorry to see such a serious subject like a bombing in Lebanon done like this, it did not need to be.

WOW! That's a horrible photoshop to sell as real.

Anyways, I bet a lot more of this goes on that we will ever know. At least here in the U.S. we understand how the media works and can wade our way throught it. I took a decision making class in college and one chapter covered polls. It's funny when pollsters frame their questions to get people to answer how they want to. That's why I take most of them, especially political opinion polls as simply worthless. If I do find the information useful I try to find the poll to see what context the poll was given. Just imagine how much BS would fly if we were a true democracy and everyone voted for piece of legislation.

The question thing...

Excuse me sir...sir...can I have a minute of your time? Now when was it you stopped beating your wife?

They learn this one in Freshman Journalism class in college.

The photographer is the same person who shot one of the ppics that another thread here pointed to to show how cruel Israel was being in shelling Beirut. The photo in question was of a worker pulling the apparently dead body of a toddler out of a bombed building.

God! Reuters used to be respectable.

Hello, all I can say is that I am not surprised what the media chooses to cover. They all have their on agendas. I just hope that one day the media will stop treating the people like sheep and just report what is going on with no slant and trust us to make up our own minds. But then again they would find that they are not that important in forming public opinion.
