QUANTICO, Va. -- An HIV-positive Navy chaplain was sentenced Thursday to two years in prison after pleading guilty to forcible sodomy and other charges.
Lt. Cmdr. John Thomas Lee, 41, of Burke, Va., was sentenced after entering a plea agreement at his court-martial at the Quantico Marine Corps Base in northern Virginia. Lee admitted having sex with an Air Force officer without disclosing that he had HIV and forcing himself on a U.S. Naval Academy midshipman.
Lee, a Catholic priest, was assigned to the academy from 2003 to 2006 and later to Quantico. He was ordained as a priest in 1993 and began serving as a military chaplain in 1996.
In addition to sodomy, Lee was charged with conduct unbecoming a military officer, aggravated assault and indecent assault and fraternization.

This is an issue in the Catholic Church, it seems to ordain anyone and I sincerely am sorry for the downfall of this magnificient religion.

What is sad is the long record of turning the other cheek in the catholic church on this behavior. What is realy sad is he only got 2 years after knowingly having HIV and knowingly puting someone else at risk without telling them. I have my own personal little beef with the neo pegan ostentatious religion myself. But that is no matter he still should have got a lot longer sentence.

I was raised Catholic but currently attend a Southern Baptist church. I agree I don't understand why the church has protected these people. They should have been excommunicated. However, I still believe in the basic tenets of the Catholic Church. I look at it this way, if I found a counterfeit $20.00 in my wallet would I throw away all of my money? No of course not. The same is true of my feelings about the Church. Just because there are counterfeit priest and pastors does not mean the teachings of Christ are wrong.
