Post When Troops Have Seen War

When troops have fought, then fought more, then fought more, and have fought till they forgot the reason for the war ... then this song will have some meaning to them.

You'll have to excuse my reminising.

I was downing a few beers last night, while downloading music for my audio player. That song just reminded me how glad I was to be going home alive when I left Vietnam.

It seems many that post here never hit that threshold.

I was tired of people trying to kill me. I was tired of working all day and standing guard all night. I was tired of destroying even US equipment and seeing US bases dismanteled and reduced back to the grasslands they originally had been.

What a waste of time, money and lives it had been.

There just seemed to be so much more to life than killing and destroying.

I think it was Plato that said " The only men who have seen the end of war are the dead." Looks like things ain't changed much.

Its the 21st Century with the Majority able to take advantage of a State of the Art Education with many of our so called "Leaders" having many Degrees to further their Enlightenment, and our society is still bent on its own Destruction...

The Dog-eat-Dog Mantra seems to be rooted in the Heart of many Humans, and profit takes precedence over long term sanity..

Education in this case is a misnomer....

Good post.. toxic!
