The senator and governor from California did indeed confirm 900 marines and a couple of units of national guard had been deployed to California to help with the fires.

Army and Navy fire fighting teams are there too.

They used the words mobilized and called up in reference to these troops.

Bet a bunch of guys , who were on leave from Iraq , got their leaves cut short.

Thumbs up

Good article smitty thanks for posting it.

I agree with the author its Bush and this administrations fault the national guard is over worked and stretched thin.

The next attack on US soil will show the truth , this president has not left enough troops to defend this nation. Is he stupid? I don't think so, I think he's doing it on purpose. Look for a major incident just after Christmas , wouldn't want to ruin the shopping season for Business, but after that we're fare game in this presidents eyes.

Good article smitty.

I was defending Bush Peach. I try to post liberal articles because its more credeble for liberals. If I postes a conservative one you guys would tell me to go to hell. The point is that with the entire 1st Marine Division in California why do you need the guard? Thats over 75,000 troops in Southern California!

They ALWAYS do Storman. When I was with the 5th Marines our Bn HQ was riddled with letters of appriciation and plaques for wild fire missions in California!

Well that sucks.

In all reality the early blaming & defense is useless, this inferno is insane in it's scale. I don't know what anyone can do when something is on this scale.

Dry conditions....Huge gale winds...many fires at once.

I blame Bill O'Reilly. WTF?

Uh smitty

The Governor and a senator from California said 900 marines were in California this morning on c-span. I Think I'll trust the Governor of california to know how many marines are there over your figures.

I think you need to check you figures smitty , they don't agree with what Arnold and one of his Republican buddies said this morning.

LOL 75,000 troops, you can bet the news would be showing those guys arriving all over the place , every ten seconds ..... Breaking news more marines arrive in Cali. Sorry smitty your numbers are way off.

You see this is how much you dont understand about southern california. THERE ARE 75000 TROOPS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. SO IF THE GOVENER WANTS THEM HE WILL USE THEM! IF HE DOESENT HE WONT! A COLONEL CAN ACTIVATE HIS REGEMENT IN A FIRE CRISES WITHOUT PERMISSION! I NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THE TROOPS THAT HE WAS USING. I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE TROOPS THAT WERE AVALABLE! BIG DIFFERENCE!
