Like the 'Statue Of Liberty' play. Bring it out 1-2 times a season.

Northwest lawmakers hail Gonzales resignation
By MATTHEW DALY
ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER
WASHINGTON -- Pacific Northwest lawmakers hailed the resignation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, saying his honesty and competence as leader of the Justice Department were in question.
"This is a good day for fairness and justice across our nation," said Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash. "Every American deserves to have confidence in our system of justice, but this administration and Alberto Gonzales in particular, have consistently injected partisan politics into a process that requires independence."
Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., welcomed the resignation, but said he was concerned that it "might be another White House attempt to let a subordinate walk the plank to protect higher-ups."
The latest Bush administration departure "should not distract Congress from getting to the bottom of a whole host of troubling issues, from the administration's warrantless wiretapping program to the motives underlying the firing of several federal prosecutors," including former U.S. Attorney John McKay in Seattle, Wyden said.
McKay called Gonzales' resignation "a better day" for federal prosecutors around the country.
"People are relieved," McKay told The Associated Press. "The attorney general has been a distraction from the work people are trying to do here in stopping drugs and violent crime and terrorism."
Sen. Gordon Smith, R-Ore., who said this spring that Gonzales had lost the confidence of Congress, warned that the next attorney general would have to fill a leadership void at the Justice Department.
"The president's nominee must be infinitely qualified. There can be no questions of ability, especially when it comes to the person charged with enforcing our laws and overseeing programs vital to stopping terrorists," Smith said.
Lawmakers from both parties had called for Gonzales to resign over the botched handling of FBI terror investigations and the firings of U.S. attorneys.

I just laughed my butt off on a jog while listening to a podcast where Bush blamed Gonzales problems on the media. Last week the Chinese ambassador came to Portland , Oregon and blamed the media for the problems tainted Chinese products were having ...sounds like he and Bush play the same blame game.
The real problem was not the media ,but that Gonzales did not perform with integrity and independence-he chose to be a willing servant and do his boss's bidding. Even a politically appointed AG should not be pushing for broadened presidential powers, and firing U.S. attourneys targeted by Bush/Cheney. That is only the tip of the dark and dirty work by Gonzales...a longtime incompetent inner circle Bush/Cheney man.
Now will Bush work with congressional leaders to come up with a nominee for the Justice department that is not just a puppet for the White House?
