Dear Edithann,


We are writing this special issue of the Stop AIPAC newsletter as we celebrate a season for peace and joy. Yet for those that support Palestinian human rights this is also a week of sad remembrance, as we commemorate the brutal Gaza war that began just one year ago on December 27th, and the still ongoing siege that creates hunger and malnutrition. We are encouraged by the brave Gaza Freedom March that will bring over 1,300 citizens from around the world to Gaza, if all goes well. We urge you to support them in your communities.

In San Francisco Bay Area, please be aware of the following events:

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 27
Gaza Memorial, Interfaith Service 4-6pm. Union Square, San Francisco. Candlelight Vigil to remember the 1,400 men, women and children killed in the attack on Gaza.

THURSDAY DECEMBER 31
Gaza Freedom March. 12-2pm.Golden Gate Bridge. Park and meet at south end of the bridge parking lot and march together across the bridge. December 31st the will end the year by marching alongside the Palestinian people of Gaza in a non-violent demonstration that breaches the illegal blockade.

We are also happy to report that Stop AIPAC and other groups just completed two very successful protests of AIPAC in Sacramento and San Francisco. There are videos and pictures at the links.

In 2009, there were at least 9 protests of AIPAC across the country. Let us hope that in the next year that we will continue to see this rapid growth of organized opposition to a lobby for war and occupation.

We wish everyone the best during the coming New Year, a year closer to bringing freedom to the people of Palestine and the creation of a US foreign policy based on the ideals of peace and justice for all.
