I think it is a very good idea. Use outside sources to put pressure on Iran. But I think (god I'm swallowing my tongue on this) Bush is right. No concessions.

The concessions that Iran are wanting are impossible. They want us to totally pull out of Iraq, and I think we both know why. I think talking opens the door to eventually ending the tension and open hostility. This could eventually lead both sides to stand down, without the use of force.

Well, us standing down is a concession....is it not??? BTW, I don't know if you have gone back and read the "No WMD, no lie" thread, but you should. Some light has been shed on Kix's claim of nuclear WMD in Iraq.

What is this?
What standing down?
Listen Norm, the US has had enough whimped out thug worship.
NO CONCESSIONS submitted to this leader, he is a mongel at best.
Wouldn't you just love proving there was never wmd to ruffle feathers eh?
Sorry bub, some of us understand the arrogance behind some of these leaders, the underlieing hate and agenda against the USA.
These talks intend to set some principled standards in the face of brutes.
How about iran making some decent concession before the US makes amends.
What kind of concessions do you see the US making eh?

I went back and read it and will keep up with it. I obviously don't know enough about it to voice another opinion, so I think I'll just read that one and try and learn a little.
No, I don't think that standing down is a concession, IF both sides agree to do it. I have nothing against diplomacy, I just don't trust Iran. I did a research paper about the Hostage situation, years and years ago. They warned the US, told us to get the hell out or else. We didn't listen then. They tend to follow thru with what they say. We can huff and puff all we want with them, but that won't work. They are not afraid of us.

Honestly, Monkey, I really don't know....I'm not a huge fan of negotiating with Iran. I hate to say it, but Iran holds the stronger position...time is on their side. I'd prefer talking with the Syrians....but, I know that is hard for you to comprehend...afterall, they are bad....
