I went from boot camp to Vietnam. My only training was how to convert my dollars into MPC

Training or no training, Bush's only goal now is to make it to January 20, 2009. If he has to hold Iraq together with Cub Scouts, he will.

May be Bush thinks if the troops aren't waited down by all that body armour--it will make them faster and more nimble!

Also, why bother risking over training the troops.....this will only cause them to think more----versus reacting on instinct.

Like he even cares what happens to the troops. I strongly suspect he thinks he's helping Darwin's theory along.

Then to get a second laugh, after sending them in harms way, he says we had best support them.

Kind of hard to provide body armor if the Democrats are cutting funding isn't it?

So true...so true...I went to Ft.Polk in 1969 (Home of the combat infantryman for Vietnam)....most of it was a big joke!

Never wore body armor in vietnam...mostly only marines did...too hot!

Not implying that people's lives are more valuable today than they were during Viet Nam, but, again, this is a professional army with a ton of money invested in each soldier/marine......can't just go draft more bodies when you need them... Today's US Military takes training and OPTEMPO very seriously.
