Iran defiant on nuclear programme
Quote:
Iran will not go back on its controversial nuclear programme, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says. A day before leading UN members discuss further sanctions against Tehran, he compared Iran's programme to a train with no brakes and no reverse gear.
The president's tone was echoed by a deputy foreign minister who said Iran was ready for any situation, even war.

However some cards are still to be played here...
Quote:
Top diplomats from six key nations are meeting in London to discuss further moves to make Iran comply with demands to end its nuclear programme. The talks come after the UN nuclear watchdog confirmed Iran had ignored a deadline to suspend nuclear activities.
The five permanent UN security Council members and Germany will seek consensus on how to put more pressure on Tehran.
.
These, says the BBC's Jonathan Marcus, could include travel bans on named individuals associated with Iran's nuclear and missile programmes.
.
On Sunday, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the US would hold direct talks with Iran if it suspended uranium enrichment.

Lets show them the danger of a nuclear program. We could give them one of ours......if we send it now it could be there in the hour.

What? Bush trying the same old shyte according to the UN. That is fabricating stories about Iran just like they did about Iraq? Well, apparently so, according to the UN. Here's the article and it just came out:
http://www.latimes.com/news/printedi...ck=1&cset=true
Quote:
VIENNA — Although international concern is growing about Iran's nuclear program and its regional ambitions, diplomats here say most U.S. intelligence shared with the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency has proved inaccurate and none has led to significant discoveries inside Iran.
The officials said the CIA and other Western spy services had provided sensitive information to the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency at least since 2002, when Iran's long-secret nuclear program was exposed. But none of the tips about supposed secret weapons sites provided clear evidence that the Islamic Republic was developing illicit weapons.
"Since 2002, pretty much all the intelligence that's come to us has proved to be wrong," a senior diplomat at the IAEA said. Another official here described the agency's intelligence stream as "very cold now" because "so little panned out."
The reliability of U.S. information and assessments on Iran is increasingly at issue as the Bush administration confronts the emerging regional power on several fronts: its expanding nuclear effort, its alleged support for insurgents in Iraq and its backing of Middle East militant groups.
|
I guess that means it's time to invade Iran? (That's what happened last time when we started to get the information in that Iraq had nothing to do with WMD Bush pushed boldly forward before people caught on.)

So, now California and the United Nations are broadcasting concerns over our corrupt intelligence agencies. You would think (and hope) Congress is double checking all intelligence information, and keeping us out of another war.
How can Congress knowingly tollerate such corruption that it can nolonger believe it's intelligence sources nor anything out of the president's mouth.
A chilling thought occurrs to me that maybe Bush was taken for a ride, as dangerously incompetant as he is, and that Congressional members, raised for the last 40 years in an ultra permissive society, have lost the ability to question, or say NO!
This country is in big DOODOO!

I haven't made it fully through the whack jobs broadcast yet but he does have some interesting points. I'm a bit hesitant to fully recommend it since I haven't listened to the whole thing, it's 22 minutes long, and I believe the guy to be on drugs and his credibility at best questionable. But still it's something to think about.

Good question. I sure hope we impeach him and I wouldn't mind in the least to send them, his administration, to Iran for sentencing by the Ayatollah.

The New Yorker magazine is reporting the Pentagon has established a special planning group within the office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to plan a bombing attack on Iran. According to investigative journalist Seymour Hersh the new planning group has been charged with a developing a bombing plan that could be implemented within 24 hours of getting the go-ahead from President Bush. Hersh also reveals that U.S. military and special-operations teams have already crossed the border into Iran in pursuit of Iranian operatives.

I guess we should start a betting pool about what will happen next...

I bet another UN Timeout is in order, coupled with the typically harsh UN language: "DON'T MAKE US COME OVER THERE MISTER!!!"
