Will Terrorists Ever Get A Nuke?
By a nuke I mean, at a minimum, a fission bomb, commonly called an Atomic Bomb.
Ever is a bit of a long time. Let's limit that to the next 25 years. Beyond that, technological change could make the question moot.
So, in the next 25 years, will terrorist get an A-Bomb?
If they do, what happens then? Remember that while not all terrorists are Islamic, the majority are, and the Islamic ones are the best financed.

I beleive that it is inevitable that the terroists will have a nuke before 25 years.

Probably more of a chance of a 'dirty bomb.' Cheaper. Less damage, but more long term contamination. Terrorists seem have gone more to symbols, than casualities.

It makes me sick to my stomach to think about it, but yes, I think it is only a matter of time.

Back in the 1960s I read an article in "Psychology Today" about the mind of a terrorist. I was surprised when the article spoke of the terrorist as thinkingin terms of the theatrical, with himself as the star. But since then I have observed that it is true. Terrorists are performance artists. They never think in military terms.
And we are lucky for that.
However, a nuclear explosion, a full-fledged atomic bomb, would be the ultimate in performance art.

A regular bomb with a lot of radioactive material surrounding it. When it goes off it spreads radioactivity, contaminating an area. I don't think this is as much a threat as is talked about. That much hot radioactive material would be a problem for the terrorists to handle and live long enough to transport and deliver the bomb.

Hi Thorn,
It is designed more to contaminate a very large area, rather than kill by blast. A nuke in a major city would kill, say 200,000 people by blast. A dirty bomb would throw more ratiation that in the long run would kill more.
Also the radiation from a dirty bomb would linger for a much longer time. Both would probably ruin a nice fall day.

Hell, the next Democratic President will probably give them one. All in the interest of peace and fairness, you know.
