Ahmadinejad: We Won't Forgo Nuke Rights

Iran's hard-line president said Wednesday Iran won't give up "one iota" of its right to pursue a peaceful nuclear program.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reiterated his uncompromising stance as Iran's top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani held talks with European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana in Berlin, described by an EU official as "very intense."

"In negotiations, they tell us to suspend (uranium) enrichment even for a day on the pretext of a technical problem so that they continue talks," state-run television quoted Ahmadinejad as saying Wednesday. "Our response to them is that no one has the right to give up the rights of the Iranian nation."

Ahmadinejad said the U.S. and its European allies want to force Iran to suspend uranium enrichment but won't succeed.

"They want to create propaganda about it and tell the world that they forced Iran to suspend (enrichment), but they are mistaken. The Iranian nation won't retreat from its right one iota," he was quoted as saying.

Solana and Larijani are holding talks over a package of incentives that six countries _ the United States, China, Russia, France, Britain and Germany _ are offering Tehran in return for suspending its uranium enrichment program and returning to full-scale negotiations.

Their meetings are scheduled to continue Thursday.

Iran violated the United Nations demand to halt uranium enrichment by Aug. 31. Enrichment can produce either fuel for a reactor or material for a warhead. The United States and several of its allies believe Iran is seeking to develop nuclear weapons. Tehran maintains its program is peaceful and merely aimed at generating electricity.

I wonder if this is gonna turn into another WWII situation where we let Iran off the hook until its nearly too late.

Many people don't realize how close we were to losing WWII.

The big problem we have in recognizing the seriousnous of this situation is that there are so many people in this country, including many in Washington that have made politics their primary concern (their god if you will) and the opposing party their worst enemy. If you try to point these things out to them they blow them off as "fear mongering" and claim it's just more hype intended to validate going to war with Iran.

I know it probably doesn't sound very Christian of me, but the thought actually crossed my mind the other day that if I had to work another site of another terrorist attack, I might be tempted to ask first what the politically affilliation was of someone before I offered them help. Of course, I immediately asked God to forgive me.. but I still feel that these people are very much responsible for whatever happens next since they're the ones who feed the enemy it's courage and reason to continue striking out at us.

This is from The Islamic Wire.. The Iranian State Press..
The Tehrehani prayer leader..( and as we recall, Iran is a theocratic "revolution").. Has made some interesting instructions for Iranian travellers..
" Iran-Prayers-Jannati
Substitute Friday prayers leader of Tehran Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati on Friday praised President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for vigorously defending stances of the Islamic Republic abroad, including the UN, and advised all those travelling overseas to set him as a model.

"One should be zealous, faithful and confident enough to speak at the UN; the president stood there and raised his speech, once again questioning crimes of Israel, the US and Britain, especially the Holocaust; he should be a model for those who go abroad representing the Islamic Revolution; they should be watchful not to be deceived," said Jannati in his second Friday prayers sermon to large groups of worshipers at Tehran University campus.

The major cleric also lauded the president for turning down requests for presence in the US Council on Foreign Relations.

"He was invited to the US Council on Foreign Relations but he did not accept, announcing that they should come to the hotel (of his residence) to meet him; this signifies dignity, independence and being a revolutionary."
He urged assisting the president in his drive to tackle price hike, unemployment and administrative corruption.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Jannati harshly criticized the world Catholic Church Leader Pope Benedict XVI for his Islamophobic remarks.

"Pope disgraced both himself and the system he represents," said Ayatollah Jannati, who heads the Guardian Council.

"His comments showed either that he was unaware of Islam, or is a mercenary for others."
In an address to the staff and students of University of Regensburg, when the pontiff made his remarks during his visit to his birthplace in Bavaria, Germany, recently, the Pope made insulting remarks about Islam, its Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and some of its religious rituals by quoting a 14th century Christian emperor.

Ayatollah Jannati questioned, "What a benefit have those, being behind the case of Denmark, gained that Pope is now following their path?"
The Iranian cleric was referring to the defamatory cartoons on Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) published in the Danish press almost one year ago.

"

Now when are any official American policies this misplaced, and arrogant?
When is open statements by avowed enemies NOT taken as the motivation for ALL the propaganda?
THEY know they are at war with the West..
Do you know you have an enemy in the ideology of these powerful radicals?

What you wrote about would be an interessting situation, if the current administration actually gave a damn about the what has been going on in the Mid-East.

Are you implying "other" administrations have actually given a damn?
