Do you pay monthly to watch TV?
I don't think TV in today's world, especially here in America, is worth the money or time it takes. So though I own a TV I don't pay cable and use it only to watch DVDs. I see "news" on various channels at friends and at the gym. It always seems to be filled with sports, Inmus or whatever his name is, Smith, and other brain dead topics. Not worth the time it takes to watch.

Basically what I'm saying is if you watch TV for news you've been brain washed.

If I could get the big stations without cable I would not pay for it, but I do pay for it every month, plus I enjoy some of the cable shows.

I watch TV for the variety....Only one Talk Radio channel to hear in my area that's not solely Farm/Market reports or sports. I read newspapers online most of the time, but buy the "old fashioned" papers in the winter (use them in the fireplace).

I do watch reruns of Law and Order and the Travel channel, does that count?? Ok..ok...every now and then I'll watch Dr. 90210 because I am curious to know why people want plastic surgery.

I get "expanded" cable for the History Channel, Discovery, PBS and Learning.
For a long time i was so pissed that I only had basic just so I could get picrure quality on the local channels. The best part of the local channels is the fact that they have a 24 hour repeat station of one of the local channels news broadcasts. For those of us who want local news without having to stop the world to get home to watch at noon / 5 / 6 & 10, this is good.
I hate having to pay all the extra money for at least 40 channels I don't watch but I think the History channel is worth 50% of the total price.
I've learned more things on the History Channel than I ever did in school
Of course for just mind numbing I like to watch court tv's COPS marathons but I always end up upset that they didn't shoot and kill the assholes who stole the car.
I seldom watch anything on NBC, ABC, CBS or FOX. Those channels are for the great unwashed that can only live lives through reality TV. ( except for dateline and 2 1/2 men)

It's funny I hardly ever watch cable news it's so vacuus that it sucks my very being to watch it.
Why am i willing to pay hum...
HBO & it's series. Like Rome.
Battle Star Galactica on SciFi. A truly fantastic show.
All the discovery science & history channels.
Ii makes it worthwhile.
By the way the new BBC documentary planet earth is fantastic.
Truly worth watching.

I love the Food Channel. I credit them with making me the good cook I am today!
I'm also watching The Sopranos on A&E. I've never seen it on HBO as I refuse to pay for it. It is quite interesting watching them change all the F-bombs to other words!
Ideally you could pick your channels and leave the rest behind, but we know that wouldn't be in the best interest of the cable companies. So, I guess I can watch "Flavour of Love" on VH1 if I'm ever so inclined.
