Maybe it is something else in your computer.

Anyway, I have another idea on how to rid AWE of these ads so do not give up yet.

The think about AWE is, folks here get used to saying whatever they want. Makes it nearly impossible to survive on another board. He'll be back.

I've had the over screen pop-up ad a couple of times on here...kneukm has discounted things as possibly being dormant and just showing up as a matter of timing...and I wouldn't be surprised that these pop-ups are because of something else...they may well be but I can tell you that I hadn't had any problem before and I've been doing the same thing for quite awhile...I'll grant you, relatively unprotected...anyway, I'm dealing with it.

I launched a different account on msn and installed Firefox, installed additional ROM did some other stuff and have got to the point that I can keep AWE up on one monitor and the pop up crap loads up on another monitor...works for now...but, the pop-ups that I saw came up over here on AWE...whatever.

Here's my opinion, at this time...the flashing banner ads across the top are annoying as hell...I keep my volume down so I don't know about any audio stuff but they would be bullshit too...the ads down the side don't bother me so much, in fact, I set the window size to block most of them and, although I often used to check out the ads that have been on here for a long time, I don't bother anymore.

As to your notion, BA, that survival on another board won't last, that isn't the problem so much as keeping a free speech board alive...the ones I've been on haven't lasted...sure this place is currently growing and it may continue...then again, it's a big world out there and people who leave here can find plenty of entertainment elsewhere...saying whatever they want, in fact, I could direct you to another right now that could handle the growth here, the ads are minimal but it's nearly a ghost town.

I tried to revive it once when Charlie Rose shut down their Forum...the owner was open to the additional traffic...a few tried for a short while but most went off in another direction...the free speech that was allowed was actually a bit much for them, as it turned out...oh well, fuck it.
