Does this make any sense?
From an article talking about the evacuation ahead of the hurricane...
Many residents said the early stage of the evacuation was more orderly than Katrina, although a plan to electronically log and track evacuees with a bar code system failed and was aborted to keep the buses moving. Officials said information on evacuees would be taken when they reached their destinations.
Advocates criticized the decision not to establish a shelter, warning that day laborers and the poorest residents would fall through the cracks.
About two dozen Hispanic men gathered under oak trees near Claiborne Avenue. They were wary of boarding any bus, even though a city spokesman said no identity papers would be required.
"The problem is," said Pictor Soto, 44, of Peru, "there will be immigration people there and we're all undocumented." Why are they trying to log and track evacuees? If officials said information would be taken at their destination, then the "undocumented" have it right, and someone is not telling the truth about something.

Personally I think they should bulldoze New Orleans into the ocean so we could quit worrying about it!

Cotton but if you bulldoze the city how will it effect the oil rigs in the gulf?

I had similar thoughts after Katrina when the talked about rebuilding every thing. Why the hell would you spend money on a city next door to the ocean and BELOW sea level. They should do what is needed to the port itself and move the rest of NO inland to higher ground...... But I'm afflicted by common sense .... automatic disqualification ....

When it comes to illegals, I figure they can be evacuated and be safe from the storm, then face whatever consequences for being here illegally, or they can stay in NO and risk their lives.
I mean, c'mon, they want a safety guarantee even though they're here illegally?

Hey there "CottonB", don't worry, Pastor Hagee told me that "God was sending hurricane Gustav to wipe out New Orleans because it is Sin City USA." However, if thats all God has against NO, then I am sort of pulling for the Sin City.
By the way, how are you feeling now "old man": those birthdays can add up! Have a good weekend my friend.....pjwky
