Lou Dobbs going off the deep end. Calls for impeachment of Bush because of tainted tomatos.

Does anyone take the news media seriously anymore?
Eventually, everyone has the same problem. The only unknowns are when, and how fast.

I enjoy Lou Dobbs take on many things ..... but the boy does "wander off the reservation" from time to time.

The most likely source of contamination (salmonella, ecoli etc.) on produce is picking and packing with filthy hands. Produce isn't washed or disinfected in the process from field to market unless it is pulled out of the ground like potatoes, carrots, beets etc.

When you bring your produce home from the market ...... imagine this..... was it picked and packed by some heathen who wipes his/her ass with their hand and wipes their hand on their jeans?

I know this sounds gross ....but ..... it happens..... wash and disinfect all of those veggies.

The poison is in the tomatos too. Washing does not prevent this kind of contamination.

Much of the contamination is due in part to the location of the field. If there is a ranch or farm nearby, that raises animals, the run-off will permeate into the ground water and in turn contaminate the produce when that water is used for irrigation.
Such was the case with the recent spinach contamination.

Lassie and Greybeard ..... are you saying the contamination is drawn into the veggie through the roots and survives within? Or are you saying it comes to the veggie by external contact?

I have been under the impression that it contaminates by external contact.....

Manure of many origins has been used to enrich crop soils all over the world since the earliest times and I haven't heard of it contaminating plants by being drawn into the plant during growth..... and poisoning the fruit or veggie from within...

    ?????

The contamination is within the vegetable.
