In case some of you were unaware.....Teddy Kennedy has undergone his brain surgery today to remove his tumor.

Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., said today he will undergo surgery this morning at Duke University Medical Center in Durham N.C., as part of his treatment for a cancerous brain tumor.
The senator undergoes surgery for a malignant brain tumor.
Kennedy, 76, was diagnosed last month with a malignant glioma, an often lethal type of brain tumor.
In a statement, the senator said he expected to remain at the hospital for about a week, after which he would begin radiation treatment and chemotherapy at Massachusetts General Hospital.
"I am deeply grateful to the people of Massachusetts and to my friends, colleagues and so many others across the country and around the world who have expressed their support and good wishes as I tackle this new and unexpected health challenge," Kennedy said in the statement. "I am humbled by the outpouring and am strengthened by your prayers and kindness."
After consulting with his doctors and his wife, Vicki, Kennedy "decided the best course of action for my brain tumor is targeted surgery followed by chemotherapy and radiation," he said.
The surgery will be performed by Dr. Allan Friedman, chief of the neurosurgery division in the surgical department at Duke.
When his treatment ends, Kennedy said, "I look forward to returning to the United States Senate and to doing everything I can to help elect Barack Obama as our next president."

Yes the brain surgery was long over due......but so far it seems to have gone successful.
Doctors noted that the area of Teddy's brain that was near the tumor....is responsible for things such as speaking ability...and the surgery could leave Teddy with speech problems.
Doctors have given Teddy 8 years to live...will it be 8 years of a silent or babbling Teddy......as Obama says....let us HOPE!!
