While there is nothing that kennedy stands for that I agree with, and I do believe that he is the worst sort of person, I wouldn't wish his condition on anyone. My thoughts go out to his family.

Then you need to take a look at Deism -- you know a faith of our Founders?
It fits the profile of those who dislike the idea of a "human god" (and the whole Trinity mindset of the Western religions; and multitudes of deities for the Eastern religions); let alone religious literature (again written by man), to answer riddles man can't even fathom.
I prefer it, as I don't doubt the existence of a God, but I doubt the existence of man-made religion and it's tendency to "put words in God's mouth" -- for an entity that ever reaching and powerful, wouldn't need puny humans to speak for Him.
The human bastardization of God is what I detest to no end. He exists; He does things we can never understand (how does man think he can understand God, when we're but organic machines with a brain as powerful as an amoeba to Him?); and I'm comfortable in not being all knowing -- the beauty of life is the unknown, that challenge that makes living worthwhile.
Deism is a rationalist's faith. It fits those who can't deny there's a God; but the humanization of God trivilizes Him -- there's more to Him than meets our senses.

I am not a fan of Ted Kennedy, I have always thought he was the least intelligent of all the dumb ass Kennedy's. However, to wish this on anyone, or to take pleasure of this on anyone is petty and unworthy. If he lives this may very well be the end of his career and that would be a good thing but to wish evil of him is just damn wrong.

I wouldn't want to wish evil on Teddy (his life is plaqued already with The Curse), but I can't say I'll cry a tear of his passing. To me, he's the worst Kennedy on the block, second to his dad.
JFK could be admired, for he offered hope during the coldest Cold War buildup. RFK, for his principled viewpoints. But Teddy was even expelled from Harvard for cheating, even before killing his secretary.
Teddy has been given more free passes in life than even Obama, and his legacy was to sink the Democratic party more than once. He'll be but a footnote in history, and forgotten in about 2 generations.

Steve, my condolences for your loss.
Cancer can be a long and painful passing and anyone who would wish this upon anyone or their family only prove their heartless nature.

Its a fact I will not put flowers on his grave and I agree with your assessment of JFK (Bobby, I wasn't fond of but didn't dislike). My hat's off to the Roger Mudd interview with him in 1979 or 80 when he asked him why he wanted to be president and all he could do was mumble and stutter. That completely sank his bid and saved the nation.

I agree. Everyone here has probably been touched by this horrid disease or not doubt will be in their life time.
Cancer has wiped out my sister and her entire family leaving one son. We just buried her eldest a few weeks ago.
About the best thing that could happen to Ted Kennedy now (and his family) would be that his parting will be as comfortable as possible
