Must be the medicine I'm taking for this flu. Either that, or maybe this country isn't as divided on some issues as our politicians would like us to believe.

Rob and you are definately keeping me on my toes lately. I think I feel a fever coming on.

Sorry about the flu, drink plenty of liquids and get some rest.

Why give amnesty to illegals? It seems that almost the whole of the U.S. Congress seems to believe that "amnesty for illegals" is the 11th commandment. They preach this like it was hammered in stone and brought down from Mt. Sinai by Moses. NOTHING else will work as a "cure" for this illegal invasion we have on our hands....nothing, amnesty only! So sayeth those who have tried nothing but sitting on their butts, diligently ignoring any other proposition put forward.

Why is it impractical to deport them? It only becomes impractical when you talk to someone who doesn't want to deport them...to the rest of us it seems relatively easy. I'll bet if they put YOU in charge of rounding them up and deporting them you'd have most of them out of here in six months because you want them out and you'd find a way to do it. You wouldn't sit around saying every plan was an unworkable plan. The only "plan" the politicians want to implement is "amnesty" the only "plan" that has ever been tried and it was a miserable failure, they don't want to acknowledge any plan that might have a future, it is rejected out of hand as being unworkable.

Several of you have said the only way any of this is going to be resolved is if the American CITIZENS get behind securing the border and getting the illegals out of here and you are so right. We can all see what depending on the politicans have done for us....absolutely nothing.

What I have personally done towards this goal is: writing congressmen, encouraging the ones who seems to want to get out from under the economic drag of these illegals to keep up the good work and telling the ones who are dragging their heels to get up off their duffs and get with the program. I have marched in a few demonstrations, carried signs and met with other like minded people to help them with their marches and demonstrations. I haven't done a whole lot but by golly I've done a bit and have encourged my friends and family to do the same.

Ladym, well said and way to go. I know that a couple of us on here have written our representatives, but I don't think that we should just limit it to "our reps", but to everyone in Congress.

Freedomlover, exactly! All of those congressmembers are supposed to be representing "we the people" so (like you) I don't think we should limit our letters and complaints (or compliments) to just the ones from our respective sates. I'll also say: Even though I am a registered Democrat I'll vote for a Republican in a heartbeat if he/she sees the immigration issue the way I do. Our senators are both Republicans and they are both anti-illegals and I have no complaints against either one of them. I'm rabidly anti-illegal and I don't care how loud and crazy the illegals get nor how loud and crazy the groups get who support them I'm still anti-illegal and ain't about to change.

400 Lobbyists Swamp Congress Demanding Illegal Alien Amnesties and Higher Immigration!
We know of only 8 Anti-Amnesty Lobbyists
Working on Capitol Hill
—NumbersUSA Employs 4 of Them

Have you ever read about the battle of Thermopylae?
Well, our Jim Robb has, and he thinks he sees an analogy! In 480 B.C., a mere three hundred Spartan warriors gave their lives to beat back an army of thousands of Persians.
Those few sacrificed themselves, but they changed the course of the war and of history. The Greeks completely defeated the Persians, stopping that tyrannical empire from advancing into Europe.
Outnumbered almost 100-1 on Capitol Hill, I do feel we're the Spartans holding off the Persians! And I'm not talking about the immigrants themselves—I'm talking about the Pro-Immigration Lobbying Machine.

This is the info on the pressure going on in Congress.

Good info, Rob. Ya know when that horde of illegals marched last spring? That was all organized by radio stations and those pro-illegal groups and paid for by corporations who use their illegal labor. This wasn't somethng that just sprung up from the ground like mushrooms after a spring rain, this was all organized and funded by folks who have a vested interest in the outcome of these illegals gaining citizenship. Then there were idiots like that ignoramous Ted Kennedy speechifying and trying to compare those marchers to Great Civil Rights Crusaders instead of a bunch of criminal illegals who had breeched our borders and were demanding "rights" that they are NOT entitled to. That damned old lout is an embarrassment to the democratic party and I wish the people of Mass. would vote his wrinkled old ass out of office.

Even though there are millions of us writing congressman, the president, and anybody else we can think of; until we get ourselves as organized as the illegals are we will not have enough of an impact on the our elected officals. Those dummies can't read the polls that have shown time after time that 70-80% of the American Citizens (legal citizens) want those illegals out of here. We are going to have to get our bodies into the streets, waving our flags and shouting---doing whatever it takes to get the attention of the people we voted into office to represent us---that seems to be what it takes for them to acknowledge our existence. And we are going to have to systematically vote the ones out of office who do not take a stand (the right stand) on this illegal question and let them know why we vote the way we vote.

There were millions of American's who were not aware of how big the illegal problem was until they saw a half million of them marching in the streets, that may be what it takes, citizens marching in the streets, to wake them up to the fact that there is a viable opposition to those illegals and "hell no, we don't have to take it anymore"!
