I am from Texas and a little confused. What did we sell or give away for cash?
When did we sell it?
When did we give it away?
I've been around a long time, we have always had illegals.
There are more now because there are more people in Mexico & further south.
There are typically 2 kinds of illegal immigrants coming in from Mexico.
Those who work locally in Texas for a few months, save money and go back home for a while.
Then there are those who hit the road running and stop when they get to places like Michigan, Nebraska, New York, Rhode Island, etc.
What Tom DeLay & Ken Lay have to do with illegal immigration is beyond me.
True both are crooked as the day is long but then again so are lots of other politicians & businessmen in other parts of the country.

You can't blame Columbus he wanted to by-pass the continent you are all on. He wanted Asia. The peolple to blame are your Founding Fathers. 'Give us your weak your weary...', I don't know the saying but I gather someone in here does.

As a public service...
Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.
This is a line line from a poem, “The New Colossus,” by the nineteenth-century American poet Emma Lazarus. “The New Colossus,” describing the Statue of Liberty, appears on a plaque at the base of the statue.

There is an old joke about Columbus. It goes smething like this...
He set off on an expidition using someone elses money (Queen Isabela). He didn't know where he was when he got there. And he didn't know where he had been when he got back.

No one has really said anything about how the problem came to be.
First of all it was Texas who allowed over 5 million illegal immigrants in over a very short period of time. It wasn’t as if these folks were showing up in Nebraska, Maine or upstate New York.
When did it become Texas' responsibility to enforce Immigration laws? I thought that was a federal government responsibility. I'm sure I read that somewhere. Oh! Maybe it was the Constitution!
There has always been movement between Mexico and California but what happened in Texas was really unique. The Texans pretty much sold and gave away most of their state in return for cash.
I think your facts (fiction?) is messed up here. Texas has not sold or given away most of the state. Can you back this statement up with facts?
We have 50 states and one of them tried this experiment. Apparently it failed because after selling everything off the Texans couldn’t pay their regular bills.
What? Does this make sense to anyone else in here? What does this mean and can you show fact to support it?
So we ended up with men like Representative Tom Delay and Kenneth Lay from Enron.
Boy! This is a red herring if I ever saw one! Lets leave logical fallacies at the door shall we?
The big fight now is that republicans in general realize what they did in Texas and the Texans want to do it to the rest of the country. That just won’t fly.
What doesn't fly is having someone spout off nonsense in hopes that people will believe it. And by the way, since you want to smear Republicans with this dribble, Texas only recently became a majority in Texas. I'm sure the Democrats were involved in this "conspiracy" to "sell off Texas."
Things look bad now but it has become apparent that there are some elements in Texas that live their lives taking what doesn’t belong to them.
Please support this comment as well. It makes no sense. There are crooks all over this country but most folks are good law abiding citizens.

Now hold on a minute partner. You can insult me and my views but don't you go around messin with my state. WE are trying to protect OUR border that happens to be in Texas(it is the US border as well) but you lily livered yankee chicken s**ts haven't raised one finger to help. Ya'll seem to think that since it is Texas that it doesn't matter. Well it does and if those losers in Congress and the White House would let us handle matter in our own way I guarantee the problem will be solved. (Texas has more guns per capita tham any other state) So ya'll just back off of Texas and get over your jealousy.
While it may be true that most illegal aliens come from the south wasn't it the northern border that the terrorist that were caught in Canada going to cross.
