I think you have it right.....Illegals are trying to improve their life and they arre willing to do it by leaving their families and working for 2-3 dollars an hour. Bush is a corporate w---- and he wants it both ways. He wants to sound tough on immigration and he wants corporatiions to have sllaves so he is in a tough spot. Maybe when Bush says they will do jobs americans will not he means americans will not do them for free.

I think Bush sees himself as a Reagan union-busting acolyte except that the unions have been neutered and now he's after anybody who has the temerity to want a living wage for his work.

A car wash was opening up in my neighborhood.

I went there on the opening day and applied.

The Manager asked me if I speak spanish.

I said no.

I looked around.

I was the only American national applying for the job.

I went home.

Too bad you spoiled it by laying it solely at the feet of Bush.

Those who wish to denigrate all Hispanics in the USA need to review their history. The immigration of Germans, then Irish, then Poles, Slovaks, Jews and Italians, reveal that the "nativists" felt they would ruin America because they were "strange" people, many of whom were Roman Catholics who would allow the Pope to take over the Administration of the USA. There were some of these crazy nativists left in 1960 who objected to John Kennedy as a "Roman Catholic". Any review of American corporations will reveal many members of the above named groups serving as CEO's and many as leaders in governmental agencies.

We must regularize the borders. We must attempt to assimilate the large numbers of Hispanics, however, they are probably just as good a group as most of the groups listed above.

When the third and fourth generation of the Hispanics are born in the USA, we will find that they have intermarried with other ethnic groups. There are some, of course, who will never leave the barrio. However, there are still some Italian, Jewish, Polish and Slavic neighborhoods but they are few and far between.

I would not at all mind living in a majority Hispanic neighborhood!!!

Hmmm and what about the negatives of illegal immigration?

Should they be ignored?

And you are free to live in the ghettoes if you so choose.
