That is too true. The thing is when I have been asked if I speak spanish the majority of them ask me in english. Then when I tell them I only speak english they get pissed off. If they know english then they should speak it.

Legal, Don't ever allow some to make you feel ashamed that you are of Mexicon lenage. You are an American, but you can be eclectic about the parts of each that you take to heart. The ability to speak both languages is a big plus in America. We have to work with reality and realize that it is a large benefit for anyone who does.

My step dad was Portugase and did not keep the language because he and his brothers and sisters wanted so much to fit in. In not carring on the language, which I wanted him to teach me, he could not. I felt bad about that.

That , proves my point, America is truly a multi ethnic country, should we leave anyone out. The newly arrive, speaking of legal, may not be able to speak english immediately upon arrival. We, (US) accomodate, that is a good part of being America, the world should do as well.
