Guardsmen overrun at the Border

A U.S. Border Patrol entry Identification Team site was overrun Wednesday night along Arizona's border with Mexico.
According to the Border Patrol, an unknown number of gunmen attacked the site in the state's West Desert Region around 11 p.m. The site is manned by National Guardsmen. Those guardsmen were forced to retreat.

The Border Patrol will not say whether shots were fired. However, no Guardsmen were injured in the incident.
The Border Patrol says the incident occurred somewhere along the 120 mile section of the border between Nogales and Lukeville. The area is known as a drug corridor. Last year, 124-thousand pounds of illegal drugs were confiscated in this area.
The Border patrol says the attackers quickly retreated back into Mexico.

Yet, Vicente Fox chastises America's Government for what?...
Not enforcing the law?
This amazes me that there is not a 99.9% outrage among Americans (latinos included) that illegal immigrants are sucking our social welfare dry and causing hospitals to close.
This Country has immigration laws for a reason. So that we can control who comes in to best suit the needs of our economy and society. This overload of Mexicans and South Americans and so on, is. As I have said, going to do nothing but Balkanize the Southwest.
Then I imagine the worst could happen there.

Geez, I think that I would be a little leary if I were them, considering we have border patrol agents sitting in prison for doing their job. "Who the hell would give the order to fall back from Mexicans", why don't you ask our President that. Better yet, why not ask him to pardon those border patrol agents?

Ohhh,,,! Touche' F/L. That's another reason I don't care for Mr. Bush.
But we'll get even less protection from either Hillary or Obama. Both of them are sucking up to the "Wetbacks" right now as we speak.

I really don't see how we can get any "less" protection. Unfortunately, with the Dems you get amnesty, and with the Republicans, you just get nothing done about illegals. To me, getting nothing done, is the very same as amnesty, except eventually with amnesty they will be paying taxes.

Yeah Im pissed at Bush about that too, and those agents need to be released. Somehow I dont think the president got on the phone and told them to retreat, call me crazy, but Id say a commander on the ground gave that order.

Yeah, your probably right. But, I'd say Bush has sent a pretty clear message to anyone that would enforce our immigration laws. Tell me, what are the rules of engagement on the border?

I would HOPE the standard there is the same as it is here.
Shout- tell them to get back
Shove- physically keep them away (they should never even get close enough to use this step)
Show- raise your weapon, demonstrate intent to use it.
Shoot- engage hostile targets as deemed neccesary to protect American lives and property.

Personally, I would get rid of "shove and show". I would think that it should be pretty clear, if your breaking the law, you are putting your own life at stake.
I will admit that I don't know the rules of engagement on the border. However, with border patrol agents sitting in prison for doing their job, seems pretty obvious to me, that your above rules are not the ones used. Tell me, when they move the border to just south of I70, would you engage, if it meant going to prison?
