Just because you are working doesn't mean you don't need help.
I am temporarly working mall security because I was laid off of my construction job. This was before the hurricane. I took this job at the mall untill I can find a better one. I currently make $9.78 an hr(that was a drop from $14), My wife make $6 an hr. With rent and a car payment it is really hard to make it. I have tried looking for a better job and haven't given up yet(still waiting to hear back from the city) but with all the evacuees and illegals good paying jobs are scarce. We haven't had to ask for government assistance yet (I am a real stubborn man) but if thing don't change we might have to.
This isn't a sob story and I am not asking for nor want pity (prayers bur not pity)

Well, allaboutpeace if you are a white male this applies to you.
Unfortunately, if you are a white male in this country there is no public assistance for you, thus making you the minority. That is the price you pay for being a white male in America.

We can all hope that the government has good reason to deny the assistance. The gov. has made it far too easy for others for far too many years to receive assistance. So much so that generations of “welfare lifestyles” now exist & no doubt is going to increase.

As far as the illegal’s taking all the good jobs, I’m not sure that applies across the board. I live in a highly dense agricultural city, mostly Nurseries. The fields are full of foreign men & women, as are all of the factories. I would also consider the city to be highly populated by these same foreigners. I don’t see any foreigners employed in the fast food restaurants, department stores, convenience stores, public works, state, civil & so forth. Yes, I feel most of them are illegally here, but now have children that have been born here, so they are likely here to stay. Border control, & strict public assistance laws in the end, is the only way to prevent the growing popularity for migrating illegally.

I can't offer you prayers bro, but I wish you and your's the best and I feel your stubbornness will pay off when you land a better gig.

Just the same in the United Kingdom , the indigenous population cant get houses because the immigrants ahave taken then all . They get better treatment than most of the population and in particular our old folk who have to live on basic pensions - mind you if your over 80 you get an extra 50 pence per week . Go to any Doctors Surgery /Maternity Hospital/Social Security Office/Hospital / Housing Department and they will be there by the busload - if its free then ya better get up early cos the immigrants will beat you to it . Our Criminal Courts are also full of them - not because they were wrongfully charged but because they try and rip everything off . Only one answer to immigration - send them all to IRAQ instead of our troops .Bet they would be floods of them going back home then .
