Illegal immigrants threatend with eviction
Illegal immigrants threatened with eviction, deportation in Louisville
August 16, 2007
LOUISVILLE (AP) -- An apartment complex manager has sent a threatening letter to residents, telling them if they are in the country illegally they must leave their homes by the end of the month or be arrested and deported.
J. Carlos Maciel said his management company and the building owner will not accept or allow any illegal aliens to live in the apartments.
The three-paragraph letter was addressed to all tenants of the 24-unit Lakeview Apartments in Louisville.
Mercedes Strollo, Hispanic hot line coordinator for Legal Aid of East Tennessee, said the letter violates anti-discrimination laws and the Tennessee Human Rights Commission's fair housing regulations.
Strollo said residents must be given 30 days' written notice before they can be evicted and even then, they can only be evicted for a reason like non-payment of rent.

I am fairly certain that most leases include language that allows eviction of a tenent involved in a criminal enterprise.

Rob...you make me laugh...Drudge may have messed the whole thing up quite honestly. You can't even tell what state he is talking about. Unless someone like Nathan knows of a Louisville on the other side of the state (from here) then this is talking about Kentucky and not TN.

Cat, I can understand you not knowing about the state, when people I meet from there will tell you what region of the state they are from instead of just saying TN.

Rob, the state is VERY divided into West/Middle/East. In a way much more than when I grew up in CA and the way people say Northern or Southern.
